Amex platinum

Just wanted to make sure I understand this correctly. is AU accounts (up to the first three) free for the Platinum Card membership?  Reason is if the cost is $175 for the first three, and it's the same $175 for each additional additional cards, then the wording should read something like this: $450 annual (member fee) fee plus $175 for each and every additional cards.

Here is the cut and paste from Amex site:

Annual Fee

$450; For up to 3 Additional Platinum Cards, the annual fee is $175. Each Additional Platinum Card, after the first 3 Cards, is $175.

Re: Amex platinum

I read it as: $450 for the primary account holder, +$175 for up to 3 AU's, +$175/each for additional AU's after the third.

+1.   So your card would be $450, then adding up to three additional card members would cost $175 additonal.    Each card after that would be another $175 per card.

Also note that AMEX doesn't use authorized users, they have additional cardmembers.   AUs generally aren't held responsible for their charges, but AMEX additional cardmembers ( and the original cardmember ) can be held responsible.

Yes, it's a total additional $175 whether you get 1, 2 or 3 AUs. However, starting with the 4th, it will cost $175 per additional AU after that.

Re: Amex platinum

In addition to adding the platinum AU cards, you can also add 5 (I believe) gold AU cards for around $45.  I'm not sure of the figures as I did it a couple of years ago, but give them a call and they can do it for you.  Unless you need your AUs to have platinum, it would be a lot cheaper to get them the gold cards.
