I don't think they are going back to change things back. Per Amex's current policy, you are eligible for your new cards you apply for should be reported to when you first held an AMEX either as AU or OC. You might need to fight for it. My advice is to have your AU cards registered under their own online id and see what the member since date in online. Then when you apply for new card, make sure you attach it to your online id during application process. HOWEVER, if you were to get added as AU today, according to current policy, your open date would be 8/2012 even though you have older member since date.
