Anecdotally this appears to have delayed some people's getting various cards with Amex. I wouldn't chase the consistent application route such as you're doing honestly. While I don't know about a year as LS recommends, January is a reasonable bet but I wouldn't app again in April. Amex anecdotally dislikes "frivolous" applications.
