Tell me that does not sound tempting.  So if you spend only $5000 annual that's 3.2%($160) cashback and it only gets better once your in that 3% zone.

I heard they are very conservative to grant credit.

Correction, it can only be used at US retail store where Discover is accepted.

JCB-Discover alliance only covers retail acceptance (no mail order or online shopping), and only covers US portion.

Any foreign transaction fee? (since these cards are issued in the US)  I have a Discover card though, so I guess I'm good on that for using it in Japan with no fee.

I'm just looking ahead since I might be going to grad school in the LA area where there are several Marukai stores.  I shop at asian grocery stores a lot too so the Marukai card sounds like a good deal!
