I recently sent a GW letter to a collection company and was refused because "by federal law we are only permitted to remove incorrect information" Does anybody have a reference for this law? What law are they referring to? I would like to do some digging because I can't see why big name companies will do GW removals when it's illegal.

The only law is that IF they report, they MUST report accurate.

There is no law that states they must report.

What law says that though? I want to be able to throw actual legal references at them.
