debt paid still trying to collect

I paid off a computer purchase over 7 years ago. original creditor was notified of payment but said it was already in collections.It was a cashiers check.It never showed on credit report.Not even now but recieved letter from collection agency. Don't have payment record.

any advice?

Is there any documentation to support you paid it (canceled certified check, copy of the check before you sent it, receipt from the cpu company)?
