If I use an account that was not used for a year, and the creditor also updated the CL, will that trigger a SW update? That is what they mean by newly active right? An account that is used after being idle? I know the change hit CreditKarma today, so I am hoping it his EQ as well.
If the report includes a CL increase, than it may increase your score since it should help your overall util. YMMV
CLs aren't monitored as an aspect of a credit alert, though as pakman mentioned, if util improved, then there's always the chance for a score bump and therefore a score alert. Accounts that have not been updated in months, that suddenly update as a result of using that account, wayward update by a creditor, etc., will trigger a credit alert as you experienced. Also, IME, I had CCs update on regularly one CRA and not update for months on another CRA. Definitely monitor EQ to see when that updates, if not already updating all along. The alert would come fairly quickly.
The card has been SD'd for a while. I had not even activated the card (sticker still on it). It was a Dicks Sporting Goods MC, A GE card. They had reduced the CL to $124, but left the account open. I activated it, called the CLI increase in and upped it to $2000. EX report shows last activity was FEB 2010. Used the card for a purchase, and paid it off before the cycle hit.Credit Karma shows it posted for the month, and reflects the new CL. I was thinking that the purchase, and new activity on the card should trigger this type of alert if I am understanding the purpose of that alert type.
Got the SW alert today.
