Barclay Rewards Approval - Next Steps?

Hi everyone,

Longtime lurker here coming out of the shadows.

I haven't applied for any new credit in a while so I decided to take the plunge today and take advantage of a Barclay's Rewards preapproval I had; I was instantly approved for a CL of $2,200. I'd like to submit a few more apps and then head to the garden for a few months, but I'm not sure what the best path is. I was a bit surprised to be approved because I know my util is relatively high -- I'm obviously working to get it down, but I think that as far as this summer/early fall goes, I'm currently in the best position to apply.

Here's my info:

- 647 EXP FICO (pulled today), 621 EQ FICO (pulled early May, might be a bit higher now b/c of reduced util)

- Util 68%

- Annual income $70,000

- Current cards: Chase United $5,000, Cap One $1,500

- AAOA 4 years

- Only 1 inquiry (2 if you include the new Barclay's)

- A couple late baddies (1 120) from over 2 years ago

I shop at Amazon weekly so I'd love to get either Sallie Mae Barclay's or Amazon Chase, but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that my chances with Salle Mae are slim. However, I was wondering, if I apply will it use the same HP as the Barclay's Rewards I just got? If so I guess it wouldn't hurt. As far as Amazon Chase goes, I'm worried because my Chase util is currently pretty high (and I assume that Chase will use its internal records in addition to my CR).

Are there any other cards I should look at? Also, would it be worth waiting for the new Barclay's TL to report, for the reduced util?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Barlcay will be another HP and initially the system will kick it out since you just got a card today, you might be able to call backdoor though and get it approved.

Chase Amazon you probably have pretty good chance at at least a smaller limit despite your higher util.

or else just the amazon store card through GE is easy and pulls TU.

Pulled the trigger on Amazon Chase and was instantly approved for $2,000! And a lovely $60 Amazon gift card to boot. Very happy

Congrats, I was just approved for a chase amazon as well. How did you get a $60 gift card? I only got $30. Is it different for everyone?

It seems like it does vary. I've been looking at this card for the past couple of days and it has consistently been a $60 offer for me while I've been logged in. However when I log out and look at the offer it is indeed $30. Not sure what criteria they use, but I've been a Prime member for several years and usually make multiple orders per month.
