7 yrs and finally approved!

It has taken me 7 years to finally get approved for credit once again! I made mistakes (giving my SO at the time my cards) that I will never forget. It was one big learning experience. All of my debt has been paid, or negotiated with, other than one garnishment that I am still battling because it is wrong. I have fought it two times with no avail. I will be trying again in August! Now... I went from 520 up to the current, 649. I have been working so hard, and it is finally paying off. Approved for Cap One at $500, Walmart at $900 and Vs at $500. Should I try for another visa/mc, or should I give it a few months to garden? Thanks!

Congrats on all that hard work you put in! In my opinion 3 cards should be plenty for the time being I think you should garden a couple months to build for average age of credit up. It would be a shame for your score to drop now that you have worked so hard to bring it back up just because of too many hard inquiries

Welcome to the forum! And Congratulations on the approvals and new cards.

IMHO, I would garden at least 6 months before you ap for any new cards. You are going to take a hit with the HP's and the new tradelines are doing to drop your AAoA. Gardening and using your new TLs responsibily are going to pay off with CLI's your scores will rebound and improve and you will have options for better cards at better interest rates. Keep your utiilization low (below 10% preferably for best scoring) and good luck!

Congrats! Hard work definitely pays off. As previously mentioned, you should definitely wait a little longer. Use the cards that you're now approved for adequately, and enjoy your increase in score And once you've plumped up your score enough, take the dive and apply for more cards!

I agree no more applications use those cards wisely as in under 25% pay on time or in full and hopefully auto CLI will be in place and your score will improve even more.
