Capital One Credit Limit Increase!

New credit builder here.

Started with a $500 limit with Capital One Platinum.

6 months with no missed/late payments, 2 CLI requests (Too short of history so both denied; said 5 months on credit steps)

2 New recent credit inquiries (Applied for Discover, and a new Cap 1 card, since platinum has no rewards) I learned my FICO score was only 600 from Discover on the denial letter. I thought it was higher due to credit karma's transunion score of 726. I assumed my FICO would have been around 660.

Anyway, at my 6th credit statement, they raised my Credit Limit to $2,000 right off the bat! From $500. I do update my income frequently on the website. So far I'm having good experiences with Capital One, which is opposite from what I read from other users.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the great CLI! As you have learned, CK is not a real FICO score so it really is not good for scoring.

Congratulations. Instead of applying for another Cap One card though, you'd be better off calling them and asking them to product change your current card to a QS.

Congrats on CLI! AFAIK, Credit Steps doesn't do customer-initiated CLIs, but will auto CLI with positive payment history.

If your Discover gave a denial score of 600 and your CK TU FAKO score is 726, you should definitely request a copy of your EQ report and go over that thing with a fine toothed comb.
