Denied Chase Freedom

Hello everybody.

Yesterday, I was denied a Chase Freedom because accounts were too new. I've heard that some have had a good experience talking to recon. Would you guys recommend I do that? I was actually reconning when I was denied (long story). Is it worth trying with a different analyst or just wait to apply in a few months?

Some people on here have gotten approved on 1,2,3 recons. You already got the HP on your CR it doesn't hurt to try one more time.

From what I've gathered, Chase will very rarely be your first lender or offer you credit without solid history of at least a year+.

What's your AAoA and what are the other details of your CR?

My EX FICO, which is what they check is over 700. I have a student loan and B of A card that was just graduated. Also with Cap One Quicksilver and secured card that I just closed.. Less than a year AAoA though. I understand their trepidation. Just would really like to start a relationship with them. What's also interesting to me is that I could be approved for two Amex cards but not a Chase card. I thought Amex was the most restrictive credit card company.

I got my foot in the door around 8 months of Credit history with the Amazon Visa card through Chase. Maybe try that card?

I app'd for the Freedom (my first ever Chase CC) and when speaking directly with a Recon Specialist, he specifically pointed to my 2 longest holdings of Prime CC's, one of which is Discover that only this month clocked in at 1 year, so yes, like others already pointed to, they like to see some prime history ahead of them before jumping on the list.

Things must have changed since the financial crisis. They had no problem handing out a card when my identity was stolen at the tender age of 17.

I'll just wait and use the cards I have well.

Trust me If i was 18 before the crisis I wouldn't have 25 inq's on my Experian report lol

I was given a Freedom when my AAoA was about 3-4 months and my highest limit was $500 and they granted me $3K instant approval at the branch. Also only 18.

If I'm reading your journey correctly, did you also have about an 8 month old auto-loan at that point? Perhaps that could have helped? I mean of course with everything YMMV.

No, Amex is easier than many, especially their charge cards.

That I did have, I had a problem with Ally reporting and when I refi'd with State Farm it began reporting to all 3. I'm sure it helped me get the approval as you stated but my AAoA was still terrible at that point.

Sent an email to the Executive Office. I've read that some people have success with that. If I don't, I'll just wait it out and reapply in 6 months to a year.

Head back from Chase today. They've approved me for a $500 limit. Ordinarily I would be happy but my highest limit card at the moment is $4,500. I'll take it and hopefully by the end of the year I'll get approved for a real limit. If not, I'll probably cancel the card.

Personally I will take it ... Chase has been know to be CLI friendly

You guys are right. Their biggest concern this time was the fact that I've opened up a lot of new accounts recently. So, they probably were correct in denying me the first time. I'm glad they reconsidered and am very appreciative.
