Chase Approval after Recon

I did a mini-app spree yesterday. I applied for Sallie Mae, Quicksilver, and Chase Freedom.

Sallie Mae was approved for $12,400

Quicksilver was approved for $10,000

and DRUMROLL..... the Freedom was approved for $6,000! I couldn't be happier.

A note on the Freedom: I initially got the message and email stating that I had would get written notification in 7-10 days regarding the status of my application. Like most of you, I wasn't happy with this, so I decided to call the recon number. 1-888-270-2127. The people on this line were extremely helpful.

The first gentleman that answered the phone said that the credit portion of the application was good, but the verification department just needed to verify some information. I just moved less than a month ago, which is what probably triggered the review. The verification process was a breeze. The lady that I was transfered to asked me a couple of questions in multiple choice format to confirm my identity: 1) Where did you graduate college, 2) What was your previous address. After that, she said congratulations, you have been approved for $6000!

So definitely, definitely RECON. It doesn't hurt to try and it could be something as simple as a verification, like me. I wouldn't have had the guts to ask if it weren't for this forum. You all rock!

Congrats on your approval! Freedom is definitely a great card to have! I will attempt to add them to my wallet on my next app spree. Like you, I agree that you should always recon!! You never know! Glad to learn that from this forum too!

Congrats but we need to figure out another word other than recon when you have not been denied... I think it causes much confusion.

it's like posts that talk about GE recon.... no, you can't recon ge... you simply ended up in the few that need manual verifciation.

This new chase verification (not new) but they seem to have really started sending MANY apps through this system... the account is approved, it's just a matter of answering those security questions... if you get those wrong then you will have to spend a little more time faxing or mailing docs, but again the credit has already been decided if you can prove yourself.

Thanks everyone. I am happy with the results and the limits. I've heard that Chase starts pretty low with opening CL, so I'm pretty happy, but it's interesting to see what different banks have for lending practices.

OP, congrats on the approval!! Sounds like a verification call though, not reconsideration.
