What number did you call? I tried calling and got the same rep that kept telling me that my card couldn't be converted a few days ago.

popamode72 - Call Citi at (800) 950-5114 and play with the automated telephone system to get to a live CSR.

Did that and they still said that all Forward cards can't be converted to anything else and that I'd need to apply for the card if I wanted it. Different CS rep too. Oh well. I really didn't wanna take a HP just to get this card. I really don't understand why Citi doesn't have any kind of credit reallocation process if I were to get the new card cause I certainly don't wanna end up with two Citi cards but now it's really tempting. Don't know what I should do.

a few people lately have had luck calling directly after applying and getting approved for another card and moving CL... it's really easy if you have to call for verification while doing the approval for 2nd because they can do it... otherwise you need to submit through EO or get lucky to find a rep that knows how to submit for it.

I see. The main problem is that my Forward card happens to be the oldest card I have and I really don't wanna get rid of it because it's a major part of my credit history right now. It's exactly a year old today.

popamode72 - Citi is not in sync with the market place today. While they try hard the track record just isn't up to other banks product offerings.

I was under the impression that a PC doesn't affect history or show as a new tradeline? I PC a US Bank Platinum over to Cash Plus and everything remains the same.

I see. I guess it would have a short term impact on my FICO scores if I were to do that but if it means ending up with a better card in the end, I guess I'll try that. I wonder if already having a Citi card for that long will be a factor in whether I get approved for the Double Cash or not.

A p/c at Citi has been a case of taking the existing card product and updating the existing card info and the credit bureaus. No new trade line and no new hard pull inquiry. Have done four p/c's with Citi since 2009 and NOT one of them created a new trade line or hard inquiry. I doubt they have changed as I just did one.

Someone else got confused on the conversation... The poster has a Citi Forward which can't be PC into Citi Double Cash so the poster was worried about applying for 2nd card and moving and the cl from forward and closing the forward since it's oldest account.

Thanks for the suggestion. That was gonna be my plan originally was to wait until tomorrow and call that number and see what they can do. Really really frustrating and I've had good payment history on my existing card and everything.
