Not having the best credit and with fixing my credit on my to do list. I decided to read the forums here on myfico. My score are in the low 600's about EX:601 EU:610 TU 605

I had no credit cards or store charge cards. I had some charge cards in the past to JCP and MACY's but never a credit card. I have several student loans that are being paid on time never late and I am on my second car loan. FIrst paid in full 12 payments ahead of schedule. Never late on payments for both my car loans. I tried not to use my credit because of my irresponsible choice in the past. My husband and I are considering buying a home. I've heard from several people that there needs to be credit revolving and showing good standing which helps with the process of buiying a home. I love to shop at JCP and i started reading here on myfico regarding credit cards for JCP. I decided to take a shot and apply for a card back in August 2014. I was approved at the register for $500. Not bad because my first card with JCP was only $300 and i closed my acct with them back in 2006/2007 charge off. I thought i wasn't going to get approved. I kept receiving pre-approval letters in the mail from Capital One platinum credit card. I've always ignored them becaused i figured i wouldnt get approved. I then received one in the beginning of September and i figured if i was approved for JCP why not try this one. So i went for it. I applied online. Since i do not use my home address for any correspondence i put my p.o. box. the application needed further review and i would here back in 7-10 business days. I then received a letter stating that they needed a physical adress on file but could kepp the P.O.BOX for mailing correspondence. I gave them a call and gave all info needed. The man said it will that 15 days to hear a response. I got a the card in the mail on Saturday with a $750 credit limit. I was surprised!!!!! Thank you everyone who write these forums it truley is helpful.

The best thing about the card is 0 annual fee and 0 apr until 06/2015. If i make 5 ontime payments i get a CLI. i will most definity take care of my credit now. Especailly it being so important to make big life choice such as buying a house, car, etc!!!!

congrats on your new card! few months later, ask them if you can convert it to quicksilver card, then you can earn cash back while spending money

Congratulations! Most likely you were enrolled in the credit steps program also which will auto cli you as well. You won't know for a couple weeks but if you were you will get an email. Took like 3 weeks till I was notified.

Enjoy capital one. They are a great bank!

CONGRATS.....I remember getting approved for my 1st Cap1 card for rebuilding purposes. Great card to do that. Pump money through it and always PIF or at least only let it report 5%. After 6 months I was given an auto CLI to $2750. So keep up the good work and it will reward you. I think you should let the CL increase before you change or request shange to the Quicksilver card. Other more experienced memebers may say otherwise. Just my two cents.
