Macy's +2X CLI!

Figured I'd try to see if Macy's was ready to up my CL, since I last asked 3 statements ago (at that time, I went from $600 to $1200). I went onto chat and requested $5K. They counteroffered with $2500, which I gladly accepted!

Overall, I'm quite pleased with Macy's. I opened on recon back in May and less than 6 months later, the CL has quadrupled! I would like the AMEX upgrade, but if HP is a possibility, I'd rather wait until next year when my CO will fall off EX.

Perfect!!! That's super another card I'd live to have but they were burned in bk, and I believe I have to wait 4 yrs post discharge to reapply. Congrats!!

Thank you. And it's true about the 4 yr policy. I was initially denied for Macy's being IIB. When I called to recon, they had to verify my BK was >4 years out. It cost another HP, unfortunately, but I got back in.

Lmao FIN!!! You tease me with that CC!!! Not really sure if I want Macy's back if they do their weird "purchase approval" like they did a few year ago to me. I had $800 available credit, and went and charged a couple hundred, got declined. WTH? Called right there to their credit department, and the lady says you may have $800 available, but that doesn't mean you'll be approved for the whole amount. We can approve you for a $80 purchase, and then you'd need to pay that back in order to charge again another $80. WTH ??? I guess there was some thing going on then where you had to call ahead to see of your purchase would be approved and what uoir approval limit was, and credit limit.

You know you eventually want to add it to your collection

When the BK ages off (after 4 years or so) I would suggest you consider them. And, no, they do not do things like that anymore. Sure, there are still those instances when folks may get approved for a $100 CL, but think of how amazing your overall profile will be by then. So, I doubt you'd fall in that situation because you are shaping your credit very nicely. Honestly, I love their cards - I have both Macy's and Bloomies AMEX's (I've had them when they were issued as Visas). And, you also have the option to add the Special Events/Jewelry/Furniture account as well. And you already know about the savings/discounts. Soooo, I think you will like them again - but this time better.

Fin... You're probably right, now that you put it that way, LOL! I want my bloomies too! I had them years ago, it got closed in good standing/$0 bal (still reporting) for inactivity (I wasn't surprised either, lol wonder if it would be easier to try for bloomies first since I didn't burn them, but burned Macy's. I know they are the same bank.

I'd say both are about the same store-card wise. But, since you had a positive history with Bloomies, I'd say go with them first to test the waters. With Macy's, I would definitely apply in-store since you have the option to select AMEX or store version at the register.

My guess is that I could have been approved instantly on the initial app if Macy's was not IIB.

Ok thanks, I was thinking about getting a card from them but I didn't have them in my BK. and was just wondering. Thanks for the info.
