Great Forum Great Group Im new to all of this

Hi all, this forum rocks!! I 'am new to this forum, and the 'credit application' genre. I just received a decent size increase in my equifax and experian credit scores with the removal of some erroneous items, and now I' am looking to apply for some 'high limit' cards if I can. I have noticed that some of you have multiple cards well over $10k a piece (very impressive). I look to gain a few of those by the end of the year if conditions hold favorable, because as of right now I only have $10,550 worth of credit on 3 credit cards. I' am a responsible consumer that works hard at eliminating debt, and I make a decent wage (not to mention I live beneath my means), With all of that I feel I should have a good chance at getting accepted ....so let the journey begin!! Are there any 'high limit' cards you think I should apply to first? I look forward on reading and responding back to your responses.

Building limits is generally one step at a time with your current limits being a factor in what lenders start you off with with new credit lines. Even though one may want a $10k credit limit, lenders are not going to start you off there when you have a thin file, short AAoA or currently lower limits on your credit card limits.

Given that one of your cards has a $7500 CL, and your TU score is good, I'd take a shot at the Diners Club MC because they seem to be handing out good starting credit limits right now and the lowest I've seen approved so far is $5000 (one step at a time). This card does come with a $95/year AF, but you can use it to build your profile for other lenders to see/match/consider.

My current AAofA is 5 years, and I guess that is short compared to a seasoned card holder. I think I may start with my current cards, give them a call to see if they will increase them for me and then go from there. Thanks for the input!!

You have an AAoA of 5 years and only a Capital One Visa Platinum-$750 Limit?

I'd start with Cap-1, but I doubt you'll see $750 to $10k from Cap-1. The BoA should be easy depending on your last CLI....

The wife and I had about $37,000 in credit limits this time last year, Now it's closer to $90,000

My thoughts exactly. The Cap1 is my oldest credit card (12/2006). I think I have called them on two different occasions asking for a CLI, but they told me that they were not giving out any increases...smh. My last CLI with BofA was about 2 yrs ago. And I got a CLI with my slate card this summer from an email invitation from Chase with no credit pull.

I agree with the 2nd poster heree, go for Diner's Club if you're willing to pay the $95 annual fee. Your Transunion score is definitely high enough! They surprised me with a 15k limit when my highest reporting was only 3k. And I just got my PIN number in the mail today

AAoA isn't always a deciding factor, I am only at 1Yr3Mos....and I think my small card lineup is pretty good!

All you need is one high limit to set the bar for your current and future cards. I agree with others to app Diners Club Premier. They are giving out some hefty limits. Also, are you eligible for NFCU?? They were my first $10k. AWESOME CU.

Yes I'am eligible for NFCU, I have a flagship checking account with them. Hopefully I can get a high limit card with them. I was reading up on there Flagship rewards credit card because of their no foreign transaction fee.
