Cap One Kudos

Hello all.... I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Capital One!!! Yesterday marks the one year point of getting my first credit card in almost 16 years!!!! I got turned down by a lot of folks, and just when I thought I was doomed to a secured card, Capital One pulled through and gave me a $300 CL. 6 month later they auto-increased my CL to $2000

Well, yesterday Capital One decided that 12 months worth of on time payments and low utilization was worth a $3,000 increase!!

I feel like such an adult with almost $20,000 in plastic in my wallet these days And it all started with the good will of Capital One. Thank goodness for a big company that still has faith in us less than perfect folk!!

That is great. I can't do the low utilization right now so mine will not get that high but it is nice to see people getting ahead.

Thanks guys!!! I attribute much of my success to the incredible people and advice I've gotten here Most of my friends and family think I'm "obsessed" with my credit..... and I've gotten into a few discussions with my mortgage LO (who's a friend of mine), who's asked me how the heck I know so much! It's crazy how credit ignorant I was before starting to rebuild last year..... I actually walked around thinking that having NO credit cards was a fabulous thing.... until I saw my credit score because of it!!!

My goal now.... have a large enough combined CL that I could buy a car just off what's in my wallet. Not that I EVER would..... but I "could" Silly goal, I know

perfect credit is my real goal.... 800 club someday.... and yeah, one silly goal just for sport

Glad to read your good news.

I know Cap 1 gets bashed (often deservedly so) but in the middle of my BK they were willing to take a chance on me and I've never forgotten that.

It is my oldest card at 17 years and it certainly doesn't have my highest CL but I will never close it.

Congratulations!!! I'm coming up on a year with them next week. I'm hoping for similar results. I've kept my utilization between 10-15% for the last 6 months and they soft pulled my credit report last month so I'm hoping to get lucky.. Fingers crossed

They soft-pulled your credit? Hmmm... I've never had them do that before. One HP when I apped, but that's it.

Have they been sending you the "blank check" car financing offers? lol... I get one almost every other day now that I've proven myself

On the day of your 1 yr anniversary hit that luv button and request your CLI.... and I'll bet you get it!! Let us know how it turns out!

Congrats, OP! I've never understood why Capital One is hated so...they've been very good to me, and I've never had a negative experience. But to hear others tell it? You'd think they were Frist Premier. I like Capital One...so much so that I have a checking account with them - Capital One 360, and I love that too. So like I said, they've been very good to me.

Exactly!! So to all the "newbies" here, just starting out on the rebuild process.... those "tiny" $300 CLS can turn into something relatively big, and quickly, if nurtured and tended to well

And I agree with a lot of the folks here... only good experiences from Cap1!!! I got my discover card shortly after my first Cap1 card. Cap 1 has given me two CLIs and Discover NOTHING! Even when I called!! Now, I enjoy speaking to Discover reps (they're all SO nice!) .... and they really DO treat you like "you" would treat you (their slogan), but no CLI on a perfectly maintained TL... for almost a year??? (and it's not like I don't have the $$ to support it, and am sitting at less than 9% utiliztion!!)

So for me... Cap1 rocks!

Nothing but raves for CapOne here as well. They've repeatedly CLI'd both my and my wife's card, gotten me a beneficial product change to the Quicksilver card, but polite and helpful every time I've talked to them. I will remember them on my way UP!!! as I've improved my credit scores from the high-500s five years ago to 700+ now.

And Citi won't even increase us from our $500 CL card!!!
