You are not going to believe this!!!!

I applied for a USBank Cash+ card around April end. My application was declined. I called for reconsideration 4-5 times and finally they approved me for their Cash Reward Card with my lowest limit of $1000. I called them last week to ask how does CLI work with them, are there any chances of CLI with SP or auto-CLI. They said no, it will be a HP and you need to ask for CLI next month after finishing your 6 months. Now, this morning I just went and checked theit prequalify site and after putting in my information the webite kind of hanged and timed off.

Later I get a call and the person tells me that he is calling from USBank and I had asked for a CLI. He said he will help me with it and the bank think I qualify for a Cash+ Card if I am interested. I was wooried what if it is a scam as I have never heard bank calling linke this. Still, I thought to play along and see. He gave me my personal info and last 4 of my SSN to verify. I said fine (mind it, I gave him no details). I asked him if it will be a HP to check and he replied no it will be SP and he does not even require my full SSN. He asks me income and rent details. He than submits my application and says as per my info you are approved for Cas+ with $14000 CL but we will need some verification before confirming that. This sounded suspicious to me and I asked what if I want to check what is the status. He gave me a number to check the status (1800-947-1444), plus he gave me contact no. of his department (1800-277-3700).

Once I disconnect the call I thought it looks like a scam, so I googled the number he called from, i.e 1800-277-3700 and found that some people are saying that it is a USBank number and others are saying it is a scam. Worried I called the number at the back of my Cash Reward Card to check what is going on. The CSR says we do not have any such information and she checked the no. (1800-277-3700) and said this is not their number. I asked her about the other number (1800-947-1444) which I simultaneously checked on USBank site and it was indeed USBank's no. for their underwriting services. She said the same but she said that she thinks the call was a scam.

Next, I call the no. to check the status and to confirm what is going on and when I provided my SSN, it said my application is under review. I then opted to talk to a CSR on that line and he says yes your application was submitted today is under review and we just need to verify few details like your address, phone no., etc.!!!!

Now I do not know what is going on. I think it was a valid call, but.......

I can't say its a scam, but I never confirm or deny any personal info when I recieve a call, only if I intiate the call.

if you were on the usbank.com site there are alerts to the bankers in the branches triggered by you bering on there and a banker probably called you and apped you for another card based on pre qualified offers already available on your profile. If your cc number changes then that is absolutely what happened. IF not that is absoultely unusual! usbank is not allowed to give out internal numbers so that is the strangest part of this entire post to me.

I think it was a legit call, I highly doubt scammers can do much with only last 4 digit of your social. I hope everything works out for ya and possibly get the card you want.

He did mention that it will be a totally new card and I can keep my old card as well which sounded weird to me as if it was a new application then why no HP??

yep its a banker that called you for sure then. the prequalified offers are BASED on a soft pull but as far as I am aware its a HARD pull to app. keep us posted if there is a hard pull because I always thought there would be. us bank is very conservative in their practices and they would want to be sure before they approved you for a limit like that.

I can take a HP if I get $14K as limit! I think they will probably pull EX, if they do.

Sounds like a banker, but sounds deffinetly like another HP as well, especially if it is a seperate whole new card, credit line etc.. Best of luck. I believe all US Bank apps are reviewed by Underwritting, but as a banker he might of been able to "push" it through. Anyways, you will know soon enough. I bank with them, but have yet to apply for any of there CC's as I don't want one of less desired ones and a meh limit.

Not all apps are reviewed by underwriting but all apps with ficos less than 680 are. platinum visa is easiest to get but you still have to have 640 and no bk. cash + is more challenging but 680+ is promising if you have no baddies.

Sounds like a legitimate call, but based on my experience with US Bank it will be a HP. Hopefully you get the full $14k CL.

So, I had an alert on quizzle and it seems they did a HP on Equifax.

The application is still pending....lets see!

This is interesting. Do keep us posted. My first card was US Bank, had to do a recon (with the friendly help I received around here) and I got in. Would love to up my 2k limit someday. I have their Flexperks. 14k is a nice way to null a HP

Checked their automated system and came to know I was approved today. Called in to confirm the CL and it is indeed $14,000. Glad to get Cash+ .....finally!
