Barclays Rewards Mastercard upgrade to world?

Now that my limit is $5k, is it possible to upgrade my Barclays Rewards Mastercard to the world version? If so when should I try? Thanks for any help.

I got my Barclays Reward card 6 months ago with a starting limit of $1500. Just this month I went online to check my statement and they auto increased me to $5000. Do you think I shoud try right away or give it some time?

IMHO, always talk to more than one CSR or analyst and see if you can get convert it to WMC. In my experience, I've learned not to take "no" the first time.

You can try but some cc companys require you to have current card a year. Good Luck!

Hey OP!

From what I have read, Barclays will not convert to a higher tier level card. They require you to reapply For the card and there is no guarantee of an upgrade. Your tier level card is approved at initial level and remains there regardless of the CL. They are one of the few CC Companies that will not do this for you.

One more thing... It never hurts to try. Another option is to see if there is a PC available. Maybe moving to another product will get you an upgrade. If your card allows.

Barclays treats tier upgrades the same way Chase treats APR reductions--you're stuck with what you got when you were approved for the card. That was my biggest concern when I apped for my Sallie Mae.

Let this card age for a bit and then go for the Sallie Mae MC.

Guess I'll just have to wait 6 more months and try a PC. Problem is I like their Rewards structure, I pay all my utilities with the card. I'll let it age and see how I feel by then. Thanks everyone for your advice.

Ive had this card for a year... started with a $1300 CL and then it was increased to $2000, then i applied for the apple financing visa and was approved with $2000... i called barclays immediately and ask them to close the apple card and xfer my $2000CL to my Rewards Mc and he did it without a problem bringing my total CL to $4000... and today Oct 31, i received and email saying congratulations you've been selected for an UPGRADE.. according to the email "You will soon be automatically upgraded to a Barclaycard Rewards World MasterCard® with many new, valuable benefits and at no additional cost to you. You will continue to earn points with every purchase you make, just as you do today. It's our way of saying thanks for being a great cardmember!

Your account number will stay the same. However, your card will have a new expiration date. Please continue to use your current card until your new one arrives.¹"

my acct was opened Sep 28, 2013

Might Recon my SL on the SM after all and see if I can't get at least $3,000 out of them.

Mine was also upgraded today! Funny how time and patience pays off! I asked this months ago and it finally happened today. I posted about it earlier today.
