Continue to garden or apply?

Greetings. I know my scores right now are still very low but I wanted to apply for a Wal-Mart or Amazon store card for the holidays, thoughts on my chances with the following info below.

Mortgage and auto loan.

Fingerhut and Cap1 secured 1 yr and 2 months

QS1 4 months

HD 2 months

Handful of inquiries from auto refinance and above card.

Just needed to hear some of your opinion's on the matter.

TU 622 Ex 612 EQ 608

I would personally wait and improve the score and let the accounts age first. Those scores are pretty borderline with most lenders

Amazon you might have a chance, but as stated get it up like 10-15 more points then apply imo.

I applied for a Amazon with a TU 623 (last month) 4 baddies when I applied all 5-6 years old (down to 2 now), 42K income, 1 kays card (no lates at all) closed in 2005, with 6 months of recent history from my Cap One Secured Card (2 other new accounts besides that recently opened) no lates at all on any cards and 1% utilization. ...I was instantly approved for $800....then 6 days later with everything the same besides my TU score was 622 (1 point decrease bc of inquiry) and was approved for walmart at $500! TU was pulled on both apps. Since then I got 2 more collections deleted and now I am up to 652 on TU! Also I had 9 INQ when I apped for Amazon and 11 for walmart (I tried Barclay Apple Visa in between and was declined) Walmart and Amazon were the two store cards that I really wanted!

So your TU was pretty much the same as mine when I got approved. I also decided to apply not only because they were the stores I really wanted but because of the Holidays! Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Congratulations! Just be mindful/responsible of your new credit so that your score continues to move in the positive direction.

I actually applied for these two cards about 2-3 years ago and I had similar credit scores to you. The drawback for me was that getting a CLI with Synchrony accounts was damn-near impossible. I was able to get a high limit by closing the Amazon card out and re-applying at one point. But that isn't good for your credit in the short term due to your AAoA getting hit with a new account.

The lesson learned for me was: garden until my score increases, then apply with a higher score, and therefore get approved with a higher credit limit off the bat.

Congrats..yep it's gardening time for sure,,later on get cards with higher limits....
