Chase - GRRRRR -- Update #2 Approved after Verification

So I decided to check the Chase Pre-qual site today and I was prequalified for the Chase freedom and Slate... I said heck ya, since I was turned down for the Amazon Visa a few months back... Anyways, long story short got application needs further review.. Called the analyst # and decllned due to TU report... That is my best report at around 690.. 2 bad accounts and a few lates around(lates past 2 years ago)... Should I even bother to recon monday again? I thought there prequal site was pretty much gold ... Ugh I asked what they pulled and they stated TU and that is my best report albeit 14 HP's, alot about to fall off. Thought there prequals were golden.

Update: Called and found out it was actually in verification dept/fraud operations depts and I need to call monday.. Thoughts if denial? The original analyst was looking at last app I guess and this lady stated my most recent one is in verfication or I find out from # she provided fraud department and gotta wait till monday to call.

Update #2 Approved 4k after verification! Not bad for my first Chase card! Hopefully they will approve the CSP or AARP in a few month from now for 5-10k range, chaase was just getting my food in the door by pre-qual site!

Did he say what the actual reason for decline was? Recon again and again. Some people here have had to recon as much as 5 times before getting an approval! Granted, if they approve you just to get you to stop calling, you may get a rinky dink toy limit of 500 bucks.. a lot of people here have prime cards sitting with a 15k CL and still cant get their original freedom raised above the original 500 CL.. YMMV as always, but my suggestion would be to get that score up.. let inqs age.. and work on some GW letters to try and have those lates removed... then apply again!

That sucks. I got my Freedom with a score little less than yours at the time with a tax lien and one collection On my report at the time. It was from a preapproval as well. I did have less inquiries. Any chance you can recon again?. Does make you wonder what they base the preapprovals on

Guess I am just upset as wanted to get in with Chase and finally got the pre-quals to come up which are pretty much guranteed as long as your report hasn't changed much, which it hasn't I agree I dont want to be stuck with a 500 dollar credit line. I don't know whether to recon more on Monday or even today.. Ya I agree I am still working on my credit report and getting the lates and the other 2 minor baddies removed. Well there it is, chase pre-qual isn't your golden ticket as I thought it was.and others most likely thought as well.

Notes:

*Inquires as stated 14 , but alot about to drop off

*100k+ income

*some lates(over two years old) and 2 minor baddies (CA's) < $2500 that i refuse to pay unless deleted.(rather die of age then pay CA' s that have made my life hell and bought debt on pennies on the dollar. They will fall off if not eventually

*One new account in the last 6 months about 3 months ago Barclays 4k cl

So I called back and talked with another analyst and she stated it was in the verification department and it won't be open to monday. I guess the other male analyst this one being female was probably looking at my app from 2 months ago saying he couldnt do anything.... So I guess it wasn't flat out declined as this lady said she couldn't do anything as it was in the verification dept and I can call monday. What are you guys thoughts? BS or true story on her part? Lol, I am so confused now! Why can't she verify my idenity if this is the case?

Just called the verification # they provided 877 470 9042 and was fraud operations dept and sure enough not open until monday....

They usually have this issue of verification. I have seen quiet a few people reporting so recently. Last month my wife had same issue with them when she applied for Chase AARP. They just asked few question to vefify and told her that she was approved. So, good luck or probably I should say congrats

I think if it's just verification then it's most likely approved, they just want to make sure it's really you that app'd it

My DW had the same thing happen.

And then experienced the most incompetent CS ever for around 30 days, until we contacted the EO, etc.

But most likely you're approved pending verification.

Ya from what i read it would of just been denied and analyst would of stated it one would think. When I spoke with analyst she said it wasn't declined nor did she say approved and I had to call the verification dept and gave me the number and told me to call monday... I tried to get more out of her, no luck guessing cause she maybe thought it wasnt me? Guessing an approval, but anything can happen I suppose, but if you were going to deny it why not just have the analyst tell me it was? Only issue I read since this is my first chase card most likely ill have to fax ss card and driver license, etc and then that can take several days possibly etc.. Anyways guess I will find out monday.

Meh no reason to be sorry as nothing bad had happened as it isn't a denial or at least for now or they would of stated it when i called in at least it is progress! I think it is due to being an AU user on a few of my parents Chase cards that live at a different address/state; the more I thought about it today and probably just verifying my address and such. Least I am making progress with them. I will be mad if it is a 500 dollar limit though... Only monday will shed more light on what is needed and what the outcome is.

When I got my first chase I got the same message and I just thought it was a denied. I didn't think anything of it and one day the card showed up.

I've had this happen the past 6 accounts I've opened with chase this past year. This is a indefinite Approval, be sure to call fraud dept, then they will transfer you back to lending services, and although you have been approved (100%) they sometimes will ask you what kind of limit you want (I've had this happen only once). Be careful and don't say any obscured number. Once again congratulations!

Thanks Centurion and others for the reassurance...I have told myself before not to apply on the weekends and yet I do... Was excited when I got my first pre qual or actually two from chase but no interest in the Slate as I dont carry balances... Will get the CSP or AARP when I have the freedom for awhile, Slate the other thing that showed up I had no interest in... anyways, glad to hear others have gone through similiar things and the outcome is mostly positive!

Rebuilding is tough and you always question what you have done is wise or not....

Asked my my DOB then how old I was lol.. Trying to trip me up, lol? Also at least one previous address I have lived it.. I had my credit report pulled up in front of me and have lived at like 6 addresses started reading down the list and stopped at #2 and asked her if that was enough and she said yes lol.. Transferred me back to an analyst and the analyst asked last 4 of ssn said she had to verify a few other things one min later approved.

I think it was alreayd approved when it went to fraud/verification, just had to make sure it was me.. Why I got flagged I am not sure other then I am an AU on a few of my parents chase cards and my current address I have a roommmate with multiple chase cc's as well associated with that address, any of those seem like a possible thing to flag my account, one can only guess
