OMG! I nearly drapped!

SO, I'm kicking back, watching a little Gold Rush on the Discovery channel and I cracked open an inexpensive bottle of my favorite wine (St Julians Shalom). My mouse trigger finger slipped while hovering over the Amex site and I viewed all of their cards. They have been stalking me hard on the Green card (at oeast two mailings per week. When I started my rebuild, I viewed the Amex (any Amex card actually) as the most coveted. I can't seem to find one that makes sense to pull the trigger, so I hurried and came here for a cure. I feel better now. Thanks

Good move! Don't just take one just to take one. Also, if you're considering Green, you could take a look at any of the other charge cards to see if those meet your needs. The only reason I could see jumping the gun is if you're trying to set this year for your MSD (if you were a prior member, then definitely don't rush!)

Good move! Don't just take one just to take one. Also, if you're considering Green, you could take a look at any of the other charge cards to see if those meet your needs. For sure. I'd wait for a 50K PRG offer if I was in the OP's situation or a 100K Plat offer.

Yes, actually I was struggling to find one immediately for this year. The cash rewards cards aren't going to benefit me enough to jump in now, and the Green charge card with a 95 dollar fee isn't worth it because I would porbably not get that much use out of it, with the rewards cards I already have. With the responses though, maybe I will go back and investigate all the cards to see everything available. It's more about me wanting to have a useful Amex with a 2014 date rather than really needing one. So I will be patient unless I uncover something now.

I think the only Amex cards that interest me at the moment besides the ones I have are the BCE and Costco Amex, and who knows what's gonna happen to the latter considering what happened in Canada. There's the PRG as well but it's probably a card I'd close after about a year of having it anyway. I understand.

With your lineup, I don't really see an AMEX that would be an ideal fit. But perhaps you could get a BCE and just SD it. It could be useful at Dept stores for 2% when those aren't a category for Freedom or Discover.

I got Amex this year just for MSD. I got the BCE & overall it's really no use to me. I'd been debating it for awhile then they sent me an offer spend $500 get $150 so I went for it.

I've had that card for over 6 years. Started out at $5,000. "Auto" CLI to $7,000 in April, 60 day CLI to $12,000 in July.

Congrats!! Why do people pay a 75 fee for this card though? Is it really that incredible? I had a costco amex in my bk aug 2012. Will they blacklist me until my bk falls off or will I be able to get it when I hit 700 score?
