I just got the Citi TYPreferred..

Just used my invitation number and got approved instantly at $8100. I don't really need this card, but may benefit from the 0% APR for 18 months. Don't plan on using it much, mainly got it for the 12.99 APR. Will PC to a Double Cash in a years time, then call EO and transfer my existing Double Cash line over and close it out, as it sits at (17.99)! Hopefully this wont hurt my AAoA too much. Planning on doing the same with my Sapphire (15.99) and Freedom (22.99) in a year.

Can anybody provide thoughts on consolidation to newer card with lower APR?

You might want to hold on to that card. Mine was just reissued as a Visa Signature.

EO said it was too new to even tell if I was eligible to convert to Signature. If I do, I hope I can keep the Siggy when I convert to Double Cash. That's if the DC even comes in Visa form..

Just received my TY Preferred. I called hoping to convert to a VIsa Siggy and they said there was no option to convert it, and that as far as they could see, it was a regular Visa. Well my card says Visa Signature. Don't know what to make of that since some people have reported their Citi cards as World MC but they really arent! Ughhh lol

I'm confused, you want to convert to Visa Signature but the physical card that you just received in the mail displays as a Visa Signature? What am I missing?

The mailer I got never said anything about Signature. I called in when approved, and the rep said the account was too new to tell, but from what she could see, it was just a regular Visa. She said to call back in a day or two after the account was fully open.

Yesterday, I called in and they said there was no option to convert to Signature, meaning I was not eligible for upgrade.

The card arrived today and already had a Visa Signature, which I am happy about. However, the rep also said it was a regular Visa (i called EO number).

So I'm correlating that with reports on here that their cards said "World Mastercard" but they are just regular Mastercards, mostly Citi Double Cash. So I'm conflicted as to whether I have an actual Visa Siggy or not.

If you received the TY Preferred as a Visa Signature (actual card) then it is a Visa Signature. Both the TY Preferred and Premier are issued in Visa/Visa Signature, MC/WMC/WEMC and AMEX. I have the AMEX version. You should have received information in the mail which provides the benefits associated with your card - the main part would be the flexible spending line and any VS benefits (i.e. concierge, etc.) if included with your agreement.

And, you already know that some CSRs may not be well-informed on their products/tiers, etc., let alone know the difference between a house fly and a fruit fly.

The actual term they use is "pre-set spending limit" and would be listed in the Card Agreement, under the section Revolving Credit Limit. If indeed is not a "faux" Visa Signature, you should have also received a VS benefits pamphlet with your card.

Congratulations on your approval! If you got a limit for $5k or more (which you did) then they give you the Visa Signature version. Mine is a Signature Visa and it reports as one, it says "flexible spending limit" on all my credit reports.
