If that does not wreak of utter nonsense, and the analyst making reasons up on the spot I don't know what does (check 2nd recon before passing judgement).

First recon, I got a lady who would not see the light of day. She seemed agitated. Especially after I said my day was going good after getting out of work. I suppose she does not like where she works, and I don't know if I blame her. Your apt to get some very indignant, ignorant/inconsiderate people on credit card reconsideration calls. The reason I say she could not see the light of day was even after I told her specifically I am establishing good credit for my first auto purchase in 2 years, and have some experience Chase as a good customer before. She continued to tell me how I would probably max out all my accounts within three months and am a bad credit risk due to my inquiries. In my limited credit history, I have never gone over 20% utilization on any one card, and my total utilization has hovered around 5% on my revolving accounts.

Second recon, I called in, the guy asked about my income and approved me on the spot. He said absolutely nothing about inquries, or recent accounts. To me the fact I got approved without him even wanting to discuss the supposed reasons for my denial is proof in and of itself. At the end of the day, I am convinced all you have to do is get someone in a decent/good mood who is not looking to go helter skelter over your credit file and you will be approved, albeit at 22.99% APR

Not surprised on the APR considering the judgemental (i.e. borderline risk) approval. But at least it's approved.

True, it all just comes down to different systems. In my case, those systems who do not judge heavily on recent accounts/inquiries (Discover, Citi, Amex) I have better terms with. Those who do judge those elements heavily, I have less than optimal terms with (BOA, and Chase). I don't think I would even dare to apply for Barclaycard. I think their customer service reps would just laugh in my face.

On the bright side, one thing a high APR does is it makes you darn near determined to never carry a balnace.

Very much true.

If he was in a good mood beforehand, and you don't say anything to change his deposition then you will probably walk away with a warning.

I just can't believe two of their reps had such a problem with my inquires, and the other rep did not even mention it as a problem and approved me on the spot. I got the pending further review message online. I then called the recon number for Chase, were the credit analyst denied me because of "too many recent credit inquiries, too many inquries, too many recently opened accounts, to little payment history on new accounts".

You did good!!

I would like to app in a few months.

They pulled Experian. Thats why I encountered the inqury problem. I don't really not what my credit score was, and wont until I either recieve my card/denial letter. For some reason the CHASE analysts did not want to disclose this (I asked all of them). I will update you once I get it. As a general heads up, I got the BOA better balance rewards card with a 691 (BOA pulled Experian). My experian has plummeted with all my new accounts and inquries. Not as bad on TU or EQ. My guess is my score was around that 690 mark. I also got a lot of balances to report a lot less utilization so I think they evened itself out.

The big thing with CHASE those is their own formula. They care very heavily about recently opened accounts and or inquries. They almost exlusively pull Experian. As a reference one of my friends applied for the card with a 662 and got approved with a better CL and lower APR. The difference between both of us is that he doesn't have as many new accounts or inquiries. God only knows what I came up as on their internal risk score, I am sure it was not pretty.
