Barclays approved on second recon call! $1000 CL

So Barclays didn't like me when I applied a couple weeks back. I called last week and tried to recon, but the underwriter and me didn't really "click". So I thought, why not, I'll try again this morning. I got a nice sounding rep on the phone and explained how I was willing to start with a small limit and work up. I also explained how I wanted to work up to the Sallie Mae card to help with my student loans. I told her that if I got that I'd def use this as my primary card. She said she'd give me a chance with a $1k limit and I was stoked!

I want to thank everyone here for posting your recon stories. I never even knew it was possible to recon, and your stories gave the courage to try twice!

Now I'm off to the garden until June 1.

Barclay's is one of those Recons that sometimes takes more than one review to overturn a denial

Thanks everyone. I just made sure to make a lot of small talk with the rep first. Talked about it being Monday morn and how that's not fun. Then we talked about the holidays coming up so soon and asked her if she was done shopping yet....before I ever brought up the recon. So she was a little emotionally invested and she could see I was a nice person.

It it went much different from my first call. The first time I just jumped right in and stated my case....no dice.

Just some more info for those planning a recon call.
