I have heard a lot of people say on here that when they applied for the Citi Double Cash, they recieved a low limit and higher APR than most of their other cards.

The same thing has happened to me! I recently got the DC with a stingy $1000 limit, and 22.9% APR. I called and reconned, there's nothing they can do, no CLI and no APR reduction. I don't care too terribly much about the APR because I was going to pay in full anyway, to maximize the cash back, but it is still insulting. First of all, the limit is by far my lowest, my score is around 720 and although that's not "excellent' I also don't think they should only be giving me $1000 with that kind of APR. All of my other APRs are at least below 19.99%.

I have a sockdrawered Quicksilver that I was going to close, but at least that one has a $3000 limit. Unfortunately as nice as the Double Cash seems, it seems like it is useless to me and I am wondering if I should just close it out. I know that is not likely to be recommended, but if I even charge $300 I am over where I should be for util on the card, making it basically useless. Yes, I could wait for a CLI, but if I wait 6 months and just apply again later, they'd probably give me better terms anyway, no? I imagine they gave me this because I've had a few apps recently.

Any good advice? The QS is a little bit less cash back, but at least I can actually use the card. Plus, with the QS, I don't feel the stress to have to always PIF. With the DC if you don't PIF you aren't really getting the full benefit of the cash back, at least not immediately.

So torn!

They gave me a $1500 limit and from reading on here, I plan to request a CLI when I go online to activate the card. Apparently, depending on the CLI, it can be a HP or a SP. YMMV. I should have the card in a few days so we will see.

The limit is a little stingy relative to your other cards, but not far from what I would have expected. Use it sparingly for 6 months to a year, then apply for a CLI. I put my cable and cellphone bills on it.
