What a difference a year makes...

When I was 18 I sucked up every credit offer, car, and loan that got threw my way. I was young and dumb and defaulted on many of them and eventually had a repossesion on my hand. Over the years when creditors tracked me down I paid them off, and got it in writing for removal from my credit score. I just never bothered trying to get anything on credit because I knew just how horrible mine was. Or maybe it wasn't...

A year ago I decided I wanted to build a new PC. I built it on NewEgg, and applied for the preferred account, for the No Interest promotion, obviously. I was denied. Got me to thinking about my past.. A few weeks later, I get an offere from Capitol One and figure if I am going to rebuild this, I have to start SOMEWHERE. Filled out the app and BOOM $2,500 limit. A week later, my bank sends me an offer and BOOM $4,000 limit. So I start wondering about my credit and pay to pull my scores from here. Mid 600's, I was surprised. Not a single negative remark on it (I guess stuff fell off eventually). So, I sat my sights on buying my first home. One problem... I had failed to file my taxes for the past 10 years, horrible and stupid yes I know. I was determined to move forward... I filed ALL of the old returns, I owed the IRS no money and even got some of it back. I owed the state alot of money, and I paid it off. So, fast forward 2 months here I am with the keys to my very own home that I purchased @ 4.375% and $128,000. Awesome. I couldn't believe it. As the time went by I have added a few cards here and there and gotten CLI's on all of my cards and now I own a home! I make sure to always pay them on time even if I splurged a little and can't pay the full balance off.

That brings us to today... 748 score... Sitting here thinking back on getting denied by NewEgg Preffered I said, hah... I bet you won't deny me now! So, off I went... I filled the cart up, went through checkout, filled out the app for the 12 months interest free, and hello $4,000 CL.

I'll never let myself get to where I used to be. This will be the first year in many years I will be happily filing my taxes on time and eagerly awaiting my refund. I used to never be able to get anything on credit and now I get letters of offers every day. It's a good feeling. I obviously don't take those offers but I have a stack where I keep them, to remind myself how far I have come. I think there's well over 150 offers in that box now, lol...

Anyways, a little pat on the back for myself I guess and thanks for reading. If you don't think you can turn it around I am proof, you can!

When I was going through my process of rebuilding I was like a ninja lurking in the shadows on these forums. I may not have many posts and i haven't visited in quite a while but this place helped me so very much in understanding stuff I would have never been able to otherwise. Only right to share a little of my story with that being said
