Emotional Apping, Fall from Garden, APPROVAL Amazon Visa - Update, Double Pulled

Learned a bit about apping, shoulda waited till later this month. Coulda, shoulda waited till April.

But the $70 gift card was calling (need to save up some more money, who was reading Total Money Makeover in the Garden Thread?). Alas, didn't even make it to silver spade. I saw that my ex score was 3 pts lower than my eq score, so decided to app for Amazon Visa, was feeling a bit down about the market loss after yesterday's big gains in my portfolio (and I wasn't even negative!)

got it an initial limit of 3k, WAY more than I expected, because I thought I was on their black list (wamu and I had an argument about the way they handled direct deposits one too many times, and I left them with their fees for a credit union, which I've never overdrawn in 7 years).

Instant approval, gift card applied, fake purchase item saved for later (the ultimate in shopping cart trick).

But my app was too soon! The analyst mentioned a balance on my card. Even though listed at 9.2% (updated to 10% for scoring purposes), my Amex was slightly over 10% (because the cli and new paid down balance hadn't reported yet). And for the first time, I saw the reason code of accounts opened in short period of time (refer to signature).

Otherwise, I'm stoked. In with Chase, not a Toy Limit, and my favorite shopping portal plus pizza, restaurants got a new card! (Hope it works for my favorite Ethiopian coffee shop.). Now, I MUST keep to the garden, (wondering with upcoming apps for discover and sallie Mae, if want to keep quicksilver, sorta like Heavenky Flower).

Wondering if should ice the reports? At least the only pre approvals I'm getting in mail are for financing.

I put EX and TU on ice a couple months ago. Thought I might get trigger happy before it was time. No one seems to care about EQ when I apply so I saved my $10 and left that one alone. All I need is Ink Cash but every now and then Arrival+ starts calling my name

Actually, THIS card pulled EQ for WA state. Tis why I wouldn't apply until EQ clean, just in case. So I would need to ice all. (I like the ink cash too, it's between that down the line or the AARP. Plus, a hidden trade line never hurts).

Thanks everyone for your support. My scores wouldn't be anywhere near this level if it wasn't for this forum. In fact, ny reports have never been this clean in my 55 years of existence (well, prior to 22, might have been, but whom knows if my dad didn't acquire credit in my name).

Just an FYI, got an alert from score watch, the inquiry dropped my score 9 points. Tis because I am now considered a thin file (this will be my fourth account in 6 months). Quite the learning experience. Here, and lessons for the value of gardening,

The biggest lesson is to acquire a secured card with a credit union while cleaning up the reports, then maybe add on a cap one. Rebuilding good activity while knocking off the bad, it's the double whammy, here's to everyone's success in growing that thick file,

Congratulations! I'm wondering about your blacklist status, have you applied to Chase in the past and been told you're on BL? How long since your WAMU troubles? I left WAMU in 2007 when they tried to charge me $128 in overdraft fees on $16 overdrawn, they rearranged debit card charges and tried to take me to the cleaners! I refused to pay, they killed my credit and I'm still on Chase BL as of Nov 2014. What's your WAMU story?

Not on blacklist, didn't have to recon. BUT a few months ago, I did call the recon department to inquire because of wamu, then later the collection department that said they didn't have the docs from wamu to legally collect (since the account was charged off and sold before chase purchased), and they told me that I could even open a bank account with them.

My story, I have been on SSDI for long time. I was working part time also. They started this in 2005 to beef up their balance sheets. Social Security said they weren't allowed to do this, but they claimed they were (and it also built bad banking relationship). It's when they signed everyone up for overdraft protection. On date of payment, they would make the funds available. BUT, not really. You would use your debit card, the charges would post, then the day after the funds available, they would post the SSDI check (many banks were fined for this). So even a Starbucks got you a 25 to 27 overdraft fee (depending on the year). This would start you off owing 125 out of your fixed income check right off the bat. When I wasn't working part time, this would go on and on every month, playing catch up with the bank, and seeing the money in my account that I couldn't use.

Then, when you think your safe, and wait to charge the day after, they reverse the order, and don't post till the SECOND night after you were supposed to be paid. Even rent checks bounced. They were most known to do this with government checks, since these folks would most likely have to stay with bank due to always owing and playing catch up.

In which time I said ***BLEEP*** you (and my family agreed, though my sister still banks with chase from grandfathered wamu account). Switched to CU across the street with the money left over for that month (I couldn't work due to disability kicking back up, so no cushion for that month), switched my auto deposit over, let the next months fees build up (they like fees on fees, till they actually close the account), and never looked back. The CU released the funds as legally required by Social Security, and I have never over drawn an account since then,

However, I have nothing against Chase itself. They may have been quilty of this also at one time, but no one did it as bad as wamu (and I had that account since it was seafirst bank, so when they started that crud in 2005, I resented them so much, because I knew it was wrong).
