Chase Ritz - 140k point offer approval!!

Hello all, it's been awhile since I posted. But my gears got grinded by Barclays CLDing both my accounts for $2,000 in decreased credit (probably due to lack of usage). I had four chase cards, all from last year, as of a two months ago. I closed the Slate ($2,200) after I paid off the 0% balance and Freedom (a whole $500) and moved the limits over to my CSP. Well, I have been seeing the 140k offer on here for awhile for the Ritz and finally decided to take the plunge. Instantly approved for $5,000!!!

I now have the CSP ($8,700 that started as $5,000 7 months ago), Marriott ($6,000) and the Ritz ($5,000). In the next few months, I'll probably consolidate the Marriott with the Ritz for $11,000. Assuming they let me since I've closed 2 other cards recently.

Anyway great start to the year since AMEX continues to refuse to let me in the door.

One year ago this past week I started my journey from the mid 500's. I had $2,000 in total credit.. a year later, I have $120,000 in credit. Couldn't do it without you all!

Congrats! The card doubles as a weapon when not using it for its intended purposes. Throw it at someone and bam! They're down for the count.

I just realized.. will I get the 140k if I got the 70k on Marriott last year? not a huge deal w/ the $300 credit. Just curious, I read mixed results to that after the fact. Also, I didn't put my Marriott acct number on the application. Are there any negatives to this?

Yes, you will still get the 140K. No negatives. They'll find your account number on their own. That's what they did with me.

It's a tale of highs and lows!

I just logged in to pay off my BofA balance $3,500 out of $9,200 and they closed my card due to recent balances (I have about 15k in debt between wedding and a care credit medical expense. 15% overall utilization.. no baddies. I called and they offered to reopen when I paid down the balance.. apparently they didn't like that it was with other companys? Worst thing is they are all at 0% with nothing collapsing my utilization. Regardless, if this is the way BofA treats their cusotmers then to hell with them.

Kinda ruined the beginning of my day.

So Chase is cool enough with me to give me another $5,000 and BofA doesn't want me spending a nickle with them... so I won't ever again.. that simple.

Ironically this was 2 days after they REDUCED MY INTEREST RATE by 4%!!! I was lauding their great service to everyone, then, with nothing on my report changing (the balances were already there) they yanked the entire account 2 days after a interest rate reduction. Makes no sense to me, I could pay them back instantly.. that's not the point though.

You're better off without them. They did the same thing to me a few years ago and it was an important account to me at the time, better that it happened at a time that you didn't need the account.

I keep flip flopping back and forth about grabbing that 140k but havent flopped from the garden just yet.

Yes, you will still get the 140K. No negatives. They'll find your account number on their own. That's what they did with me.

Not necessarilly true. When you get your card in the mail, check the back to make sure it is the right marriott rewards #. If it isn't you'll have to go through some paperwork and phone calls to get the accounts merged.

I think they got my number right. I logged into my Marriott account and I went from Silver to Gold. Still not showing on Chase.com though. But that will come shortly I'm assuming, no rush since we're leaving town to visit family this week so I would be able to get the card before we leave Thursday.

On that note, after the BofA situation.. I'm going to garden for the next 6 months and not ruffle any feathers.
