Sallie Mae Mastercard.....Approval Pending? (UPDATE)

Just applied for the Sallie Mae Mastercard yesterday and it states pending review. This will be my 3rd card with Barclay's and I am scared that it will be a denial. I have been having this itch to app so I bit the bullet and tried for the Sallie Mae card since my TU FICO was 705 with 4 inquiries and Barclay's was one of them. Should I call Monday and ask to move some of my credit line from another card? Thanks!

You have to recon the decision first. They won't move a CLI onto a card that has not been approved. The account doesn't even exist yet.

Call and try to get approved. If you are approved then see about moving limits.

Many people get pending for this card and are approved on recon. You really only get instant approved with top notch credit and few inq's.

Thanks I will call to reconsider and if I get a no I will keep trying lol! I hope they give me this card, my feelings get hurt when I get denied, but it also keeps me in garden for a while too lol.

Using the Barclays Sallie Mae recon, you may be able to open the card if they can move credit limits (assuming this is even needed). Did this myself where they were able to open the card by shifting credit limits. RECON!

Thanks everyone,

I wanted to update you on my application status: Approved! After calling 866-951-1437 (24/7 underwriting number) provided by Jsucool76 (thanks). The underwriter asked about my bankruptcy and I explained why I filed and she said I have been doing great ever since and she liked how I handled their other two cards. She then advised she could move $2500 from my NFL World Mastercard to open the Sallie Mae Mastercard. I agreed, now I can wait for my card in the mail, yay!

I dunno... I was insta approved for $4500 with a 665 TU...

But I also had 16 months history with the Barclays Apple card $2200 CL... that I immediately added to the Sallie Mae of course.

Never heard of them moving CL to open Sallie Mae until now... twice in the same thread.

All I've ever seen (including multiple times in my own conversations with CSRs) is that you must be approved before they will allow a CL transfer.

I guess it's YMMV.

I forgot to mention that the underwriter told me that since I didn't have very much usage on my NFL card ($5000cl) which I just got approved for on 12/10/14 and met the minimum $500 spend for the 10,000 bonus points that she'd move $2500 to the Sallie Mae Mastercard I had applied for and I was given the World version as well.

Very long run-on sentence huh, lol! Just wanted to give a little more insight on the reconsideration. Plus the first thing the nice lady said when I called was "let's see if I can get you approved today" and in 3 minutes it was golden.

Congrats on your approval. The Barclays recon people tend to be very helpful.

I agree that most Barclay recons seems to be succesful! I was "pending" for my Sallie Mae when I applied - got the 7 to 10 day message. Called and they simply asked a few questions about credit history, and then approved me for $5000. Was no big deal at all.

Thank for these forums because in the past, I would have never known there was even an option to call, and would have likely just been declined.

Cant really agree with this one. My file was very thin at the time of instant approval. TU was 716 and had about 5 (or 6?) inqs at the time all within less than 6 months. Dont think any of those things would have put me in the top notch credit category Now I did recon the initial limit of $1300 but it was an instant approval nonetheless. Congrats OP!
