It was just as promised on the paperwork, so I can't complain (not that I'm in a position to anyway... yet.)

I just did the shopping cart trick at Victoria's Secret, and stopping there with the SCT. Last month I got the Merrick double-your-line. So, I'll be laying low in the garden and just let my scores grow a bit before doing any more apping (though I toyed with the idea of the Amazon store card last night - but I don't want to waste an actual hard pull on a store card that's not a sure thing.)

Congrats on your cart trick. I also had the DYL with Merrick. I'm coming up on a year here soon so I'm looking forward to see if they increase past that initial DYL.

As of late I've been reading about lots of people getting HUGE CLI with their steps program. Mine came and I'm pretty disappointed. I started off with a $3K limit and ran $13,000 through their cards. One has a balance of $0 and the other one has a balance of -$1.71 (They owe me $1.71). Yesterday, a $500 increase.

I know credit isn't supposed to be an emotional thing, but I'm sorta pissed LOL.

There doesnt seem to be any pattern to the amount that they increase in credit steps. I personally went from 500 to 2500 but it prob had to do with my low limit to begin with.

That's what I'm beginning to think in my case. I started with a larger limit so I didn't have much room to "grow". However I just got off the phone with EO so hopefully when they see my spending habits they'll make an increase. I got tired of making multiple payments per month haha.

They sorta pissed me off too! I have two cards with them that just recently went through Credit Steps. First one went from $300 to $2300... I was so happy! And then the second went from $300 to $500 as promised. I was too disappointed so I reached out to the EO about an additional increase on my second card. After over 2 weeks of waiting someone finally reached our to me and said I would hear back in 3-5 business days. We'll on the 6th business day still nothing so I called them back and they said no go. I asked why and they said not enough time at my current limit on that card ($500, really??) And I had many new accounts. Well I had the same new accounts when you upped the first one to $2300. So, there is never a patter with Cap1. They remain a mystery.

That would be frustrating. I haven't done anything this last 6 months except let the accounts age and make on time payments. I don't get it. I did run a bunch through it just to try to increase my chances of getting a larger increase. I'll more than likely go back to just using cash. I do however have the ability to cancel my Credit One card (as soon as they open I'm doing that) since I have some more padding with my gracious increase haha. I understand it's not a guarantee or even "supposed" to be given. Cap 1 told me that more usage generally equals more increases, which is what I did. Plus with all the good news I've been reading here I guess added to me getting my hopes up. Oh well, it's still a nice limit. I was just hoping it'd jump up for my app spree in April so other lenders will give me higher limits too.

Yep their isn't a rhyme or reason how they seem to choose who to give BIG increases too.. My personal opinion of it is the ones that most likely will not PIF each month and more likely to make interest off of in the future.. Just my 2 cents.. ya I got a small one too had to call the EO and said I can't even buy an airline ticket and rental car with this amount... Anyways best of luck with the EO route.

Ya there are all sort of issues run 7k through and I got a huge increase then others run 100 through a month and get the same increase and people like us, well I put a decent amount through and got a laughable increase and your case.. As stated no real reason although people try to make correlations that I personally don't believe. The way I got mine is my limit was lower then your initial limit and used exactly what I stated I said the card served no purpose in my life to the EO as it had a toy limit and if you ever want use on it I got to at least be able to book an airline ticket and car rental and some breathing room.. Got another 1k out of them, but still wasn't happy. Will try again this coming month after the 6 month point from last increase and expect the worse, but hope for the best...

Let us know, takes about a weekish to go through EO.

They want you to use as much as you are comfortable with and before your statement is due, knock that biotch down to 6-20%. Do NOT make a habit of carrying a 0 balance. FICO wants a clean 6% for optimal FICO score on revolving. Even Cap1 Steps is known to take you up to a 20k CL. I know this because I spoke to someone in the credit dept!
