YES!! INSTANTLY APPROVED FOR AMEX BCE

I thought I had NO CHANCE! BUT YES!!: INSTANTLY APPROVED FOR AMEX BCE

But, I had this feeling to take a risk and go for it. After 60+ seconds.. literally, I was sitting there anxiously, it felt like eternity! LOL.

Anyways, after the spinny thing did its job, a page came up showing the following:

I thought to myself: "How?

My highest limit is $500 with my new card and card(s) on the way. I do not know my limit for this Amex yet (EDIT BELOW)

7 months of credit history (since 18, first month of Discover card approval, June 2014)

Last EX score still in the 600s (see sig)

13-15 INQs (garden reset, yes?)

VERY LOW income, very low (student) below 15k (for now)

I'm so happy to be in with Amex now and have them grow with me. I may consider closing Cap One at some point.

EDIT:

What!? My CL is $2,000.00? My highest so far was $500 this month unless you want to count the $600 Walmart card that I was approved for. I am SHOCKED! Amex matched about all my cards put together.. x2.

I haven't even finished lowering my UTIL! I can not even believe I was approved, let alone a 2k limit on ONE card? ALL of the odds are against me.

And yes I will cherish this card and be VERY careful on my spending, as, this is no toy limit. $500 to 2k is crazy.

AMEX tends to be relatively generous when it comes to new applicants. The key is that you're a responsible user with a nice solid profile. Same thing happened to me not too long ago. I applied for the same card and was approved instantly with a 5k limit. Keep utilization low (10-30% each month max), always pay it off in full each month and you'll be good

side tip- try avoiding applying for any new cards the next 6-8 months. it'll help your profile look good

For sure! I am fully satisfied now that I have 1. Discover. 2. NFCU and 3. Amex. My other cards are nothing compared now. My Capital One may be more of a trouble than helpful soon as I dislike their CS (so far) and probably won't use it much considering I'll be using what I can on those 3 mostly.

Does the APR section take time to show? I followed the steps under "Show balance details" and under Account Management Current APR is not there.

Call in to the automated line and check application status. tells you apr there. apr wont show on site untill 1st statement cuts.

also ignore the 0% apr. Its a trap. Amex does not like balance carrying.

also, second bet 18.99% apr

Congrats! Kinda upsets me though, no offense to you but my credit profile is a little better then yours and I was just approved for a $2,500 CL last week. It upsets me a lil bit cause I look at yours and think...I had 3 CCs when I applied, 2 with at least a $2k limit and the other at $1,200 and AMEX only trusts me with $500 more then they trust you? Interesting how that logic works lol whatever. At the end of the day I'm still extremely excited to recieve my card and I'm sure you are too. Good luck with it and congrats again!

EDIT: I called yesterday to ask about my APR and they told me it was 16.99% (incase you wanted to compare)

I was confirmed to have 0% APR for 15 months via phone. I was informed my APR after that will be 21.99 (understandably high, more risk).

However, I was informed it is very likely to be lowered before the 15 months with on-time payments. I took that as a sign as "Do NOT use too much of your limit within those 15 months and show risk holding a balance, and, we will lower your APR before 0% is up" sort thing. Works for me!
