APP SPREE SUCCESS!! CSP, EDP, RING!!

I've been waiting for this moment for several years now. I've been gardening pretty much for the last 3 years. I've paid down all of my balances and just really wanted to change my current card line up because most of my cards have terrible APRs and CL's from when I first started rebuilding. Here are the results from my app spree during the last 48 hours:

1. Discover CLI: 5k ---> 7.5k (asked for quick off-cycle update so Barclays and Chase could seek 7.5k limit)

2. AMEX BCE CLI: 1k---->3k

3. CSP Approval (Blacklist): 5k

4. Amex EDP: 5k (will take limit from BCE for a total 8k limit.)

5. Barclay Ring: 7.5k (will take limit from Itunes Rewards for a total 10.5k limit)

I'm so happy that all of my hard work over the last several years has finally paid off with great cards, limits, and APRs. I don't really have any desire to app for any more cards for quite some time. I think I'll have way too much credit if I do so. I now just need to decide what to do with my Citi Diamond Preferred. I don't use it, and they've never given me a CLI. Should I just cancel, or should I ask to PC to a Simplicity? The only issue is that my APR sucks on that card, so I am not sure if the pc is worth it. Thank you to everyone here for all of the great advice. Congrats on the spree! What about PCing the Diamond to their Double Cash? That might make the card worthwhile again as a General Spend card to fill in the gaps...

Awesome approvals!

You indicated "Blacklist" on your CSP Approval, I'm assuming this means you burned Chase in the past. Can you give a little color on that? How long ago, how much, CO or IIB? Just trying to get a feel for Chase's state of mind currently.

Happypill. I'm on my phone and can't link my approval posting for CSP, so I copied and pasted the back story.

"I burned Chase with a CO in 2009. I stupidly signed up for a credit card when I was 19 years old and proceeded to destory my credit relationship with Chase over the next several years. After cleaning up my report, I applied for the CSP in 2012 and recieved the futher review message. I called in and the credit analyst told me that my credit file was too thin, I didn't have a card with a limit of 5k+, and my CO with them was way too recent.

Fast forward to now. My credit report is squeaky clean, and my scores are pretty much hovering a little under and above 800 based on my util. I knew that I would still be on Chase's Blacklist, but I decided to pull the trigger on the CSP again. I've never been so nervous! Unfortunately, I recieved the "app is under review and you will hear back in 30 days message." I called the backdoor number and spoke to a guy who was very much so to the point! He definitely wasn't going to go easy on me. After confirming all of my information, he drilled me on every single balance on my credit report (mostly charge card balances). He then proceeded to question me about the CO. He asked why I let it get to that pint and why I didn't settle afterwards. I was honest and told him that I was 19 at the time and literally had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I also told him that I did infact settle and he said, "Oh, ok. That's good to know."

After putting me on hold several times he came back and said..."So here's what's going to happen. I have put in a request for your approval to my superior who will have to look over your app and decide for himself. Although your CO with us is recent, and WILL ALWAYS BE AN ISSUE, I think your credit report shows that you can manage your credit responsibily and you have learned from your past mistakes. I am requesting that you receieve the lowest (5k) limit if approved so that you can start building a relationship with us again. If approved, you'll recieve your card in 7-10 business days. On the flip side, if you're not approved, you'll still recieve a notice in 7-10 business days. explaining the reasons why." I then thanked him for considering me for a second chance. I then checked my chase checking 10 minutes later and saw the CSP attached to my account.

Hey ccb2115, thanks for sharing that story. So 5 years after CO, it looks like a combination of excellent scores, engaged (if difficut) rep, and carefully managed recent credit history were big factors. Great job and thanks for providing a possible roadmap for Chase. Congrats!

I don't know why but I was really happy that Chase took you back!

Maybe becuase I just love the CSP..

I would keep that Citi CC... I don't know if you tried a CLI maybe just to 2k to make it even and SD it!

How about that Cap1 secured? You should get your money back and close it! That card will NEVER grow with you!

The day they SP pull me for my "credit baby steps program" my first real CL posted on my CRs (4.5k) and they gave me $500 instead of $300.

When I called EO 3 months after with 11k total CL and 5% util (they SP me) they denied me saying that I should apply for another card instead (and get a HP on each CB, such a nice offer). For the first 5 months, I was literraly making payments every 3 days with that card and only got a $200 CLI.

Yeah.. Keep the Citi, maybe one day they will offer a credit card with real rewards and benefits without a $450 AF and you will bw happy to PC it or transfer that limit..

Thanks!!! So I guess I'll just SD my Citi. Should I close my capital one secured card? The only reason it's still open is because it's my oldest CC account (except for my backdated '99 Amex cards).
