Chase recon success!! :)

First I want to thank this forumn as there is tons of awesome info here!!! 2nd, the back door number got me in to Chase where I was able to answer a bunch of security questions and was approved for a Chase Freedom with a 2k CL.

Chase: 888-609-7805 (Credit Analyst/App recon) Tried this number a few times and could not get anywhere with the reps. They would keep telling me Its pending.

Chase: 888-245-0625 (Credit Analyst - Recon) Tried this number today and the personwho picked up was all over it! They reviewed and saw that I needed to talk to the verification department to answer some questions. He warm transferred me and I answered the questions and the lady put me on hold and came back and gave me the good news.

I was a little nervous as I had just applied 2 days before for BOFA power rewards visa siggy for $5k and Amex premier rewards and was approved for both and they both hit my Experian. I was thinking bad thoughts as I had seen in other posts Chase doesnt like lots of inquiries after I saw that Chase pulled Experian. Then again, those were the only inquiries for the past 2 years.

I also thank you guys as I found valuable info on that the signature cards don't report a credit limit, so I immediately called BOFA, and they "downgraded" (the rep kept saying that word over and over lol) me to a Visa platinum power rewards card which I thought was pretty cool as I dont think they offer the power rewards in a platinum version anymore. So in my eyes score.

I now have the cards I wanted and will now go into garden mode as I work to increase my FICO score and hopefully some big CLI's in my future.

I also have good luck with CHASE this morning.....

I applied two weeks ago with CHASE and got a letter deniying my application

Called the 1-888-609-7805 number and got them to approve me for a 1,000 CL. I asked how long before I can get a CLI....they said make some history and payment and should be able to bump me within 3-6 months.

They person I spoke to was very pleasant and easy to work with...I didn't get a big limit but at least it's something.

Once again, the myFICO forum is an invaluable resource for me! I just apped an hour ago and got the 10 day message. I called the recon number and my application was approved with a $2K limit. Looking forward to the Disney rewards and earning my way to a higher limit over time!

I opened my freedom account last year in Dec with a very low $300 CLI

Chase then automatically upgraded it to $500 last month

I just read this thread and called the 1-888-609-7805, I spoke with someone very helpful and applied for a increase to $10,000 which they approved.

I didn't get full success. I called and they asked me some questions, but they then told me I had to speak with a verification department on Monday. Has this happened to others? What is the verification process, is this like to verify you past addresses, home loan lender, and those other types of questions?

I am in the recon process for the Chase Freedom and they are dragging through the mud. Three weeks ago gave me recommended approval and asked me to fax over SS card and proof of address. Told me it would take a week for it to get processed in the system. Did that and called back a week later and they asked me some more verifications over the phone but did NOT give me approval at that time. They said the card is recommended for approval but it has to go to the manager of the verification department for final review. They told me to call back in another week which will be this upcoming Wed! What in the world! None of you that responded had to do any of this and I am calling the same numbers as you. Unbelievable! Grrrr

Verification typically means approval. I think Chase has us call the underwriters/analysts in India to do the grunt work haha. Took me two or three tries to get my $5k Freedom... Finally got it, and I love it! 0% + cashback= happy me!

If I have to go through all this I will go crazy, as I am cheating the system anyway. Not in a bad way, but in a positive way. I actually don't live in the US. I am a US citizen, I am not some fraudster stealing some persons credit, I am merely rebuilding my credit while I am outside of the country. I have pleanty of money in the US to pay my bills, but to prove my employer would be hard! I didn't actually lie to them about anything but the phone number, so that could be an issue and they certainly won't find it a database of American companies. (Maybe I should have lied and found a company with the same name and used their phone number, but I don't want to lie. Just bend the truth a little.) I am not deliquent on anything where I live or doing anything bad there, just don't live in the US and want my scores to be good when I return! So if I have to go through all that I will go nuts! Fortunately, I can fax any documents except a utility bill, phone bill, or anything like that, but I can fax my License, my social security card, bank statements, and the like for them. If it's simply just providing them with answers as I hope for questions then no problem.

I certainly hope so! But it was a 9-5 time frame for the call. So I am thinking that it is not India. I am not too concerned at this point since I just got a Compass Bank Clear Points Card for $8,000 and nearly fainted when I heard the limit.

I applied Friday, (today is Monday) for Chase Slate. I got the 7-10 day letter, so I called the first number listed on the above post right away and was told no go because of my BK from 2005. I decided to call in again for another recon today and called the second number listed, she verified name and address, if I was homeowner or not, amount of mortgage paid, place of employment, salary and position held. Then she put me on hold for a few minutes and came back saying she was going to forward the recon for 2500CL to her approval department and I would get a letter in the mail if denied or welcome packet if approved. First Number provided no results, second number did. So I'd say its right on target with what the first poster said.

OK well this is Tuesday and I have not heard back from Chase so I called in. They told me that my application was approved by CS Rep and then sent for the final sign off to the higher ups and they then denied it based on high utility on my Capital One Card.

They did not consider any of the other open lines of credit I have paid off in this decision. My Capital One credit steps card is just not a priority for me as it is a stalemate. So, its fine I apped for Discover IT and initially was given the call us screen with the app ID number. Discover App Recon brought a 4K CL and they took everything into consideration through the basic CS level.

The chase CS Rep said she could try again, but I decided that I just didnt feel right approaching this again. I dont know that I want a chase in my wallet. Sounds like the kind of card that would like for you to have credit but never show that you use it. OK well just wanted to update for others that may run into this as well. good luck future chase applicants!

I got the reason rejection letter today, listed reason:

"your credit report reflects a bankruptcy"

So maybe Chase just is not BK friendly, even with re-established credit?
