Decided that my Capital One Platinum Master Card, with 1 percent rewards is kind of stale.

Not prepared to take any HP, and the $10k CL I have is fine, the APR of 10.90% I could not currently expect to improve upon with a new app anyway.

And the most important part, I've had this account since 2003. I did not want to lose that age.

So got on Chat with CapOne just now, and they are upgrading my card, everything including the account number stays the same, to the WMC QuickSilver.

No HP, no loss of account history, same good APR, 1.5% on everything, no AF, no FTF, no BT Fees. No recent CLI, but we will see in a few months again, though 10k is always adequate.

I'm happy!

Thanks, yes I know, that APR is why I have never been in any hurry to app for something else from CapOne.

The general features of all their cards are virtually indistinguishable, so with one outstanding feature, the other cards lose their appeal.

There should be a blue "Chat Now" button that will open a separate chat window.

The initial CSR was providing the basic information, checking whether the upgrade was possible, then handed the chat off to the CSR who actually triggered the upgrade. The nice thing about this is, the second CSR said "hold on while I review the previous chat" so I didn't have to repeat all the details. If in voice, it seems you usually have to recite all the details to each new CSR.

Received an alert today. Since the Quicksilver is a WMC, I presume this means I don't have to keep bugging CapOne about getting a CLI?

If I want to charge more than the $10k limit, I just need to pay it down with the next statement?

(the balance activity is actually a series of moves, most of the first balance over to Discover to get a lower APR with no fee, then kiting a BofA balance to CapOne preparing to re-BT it back to BofA on another 18-month 0% offer for a 4% fee)

If we do authorize transactions in excess of your revolving credit line, they will be subject to this agreement. They will not result in an increase in your credit line."

I think that may be because once upon a time, you could open another card - close it - combine the limits ! They've long since stopped that option & really think that has hindered me to this day.

I don't really care because the line itself is decent & I love that they've never given me any flack on the APR (this card started out with the marble green look with no rewards & then upgraded to the QS/1.5 through EO because I didn't want a new app with a higher APR).
