Barclay Recon!!

Well I just wanted to post my experience as I only attempted this after combing thru reviews to see what other people have done. I apped the Barclay rewards card last night and I got the 7-10 system generated message. Of course at that polnt I was a little upset and worried that I just wasted a HP and now will not receive a card. Thanks to the numerous post on Barclay and this 7-10 system generated message, this morning I called 866-240-7764 and I got a nice gentleman on the phone. He asked me about the repossession I had in 2009 and he asked me why I didnt get a credit card until 2013. I gave honest answers for both and he approved my app for 1000CL with a possible CLI in 4 months.

To give you a history on my credit profile I do have quite a bit of bad information but most if not all of it is 6 years old and getting ready to fall off, like the repossession he asked me about. I have 3 credit cards: Capital One Platinum 2500CL, Capital One Journey 3500CL, and Merrick Bank Visa1300CL. I just recently ot a BOA 99-500 rewards card, and now this Barclays Rewards Visa. Of the 3 cards I do have I have never missed a payment and they all have considerable balances on them with the exception of Merrick which has $50 balance.

If you tried to apply or plan to apply for a Barclays card and your credit history is similar to mine and your scores are similar you need to RECON if you do not get instantly approved. I know ymmv but the experience I had was like most of what I read in the forums. If you apply you need to recon if not approved as there is no need to waste a HP. That is my hope that it will be helpful. I mean you really dont know until you try and I know everyones credit profile is different and someones post describing theirs aiding in me applying. Thanks!

Congrats!

I did not get approved for Barclays, called recon and got approved for $1k as well. My scores are similar to yours..

I must admit though, Chase recon was BY FAR the hardest for me, I felt like I was applying for a job @ FBI...question after question after question !!

for anyone thinking about recon with barclay...stop. pick up the phone, and do it! was initially approved for 2.5k, called recon and asked what they could do to get me approved for a higher limit. asked a few questions about income, where i work; all the while polite and professional. after about 2 minutes on the phone they doubled my initial limit with only a sp thank you barclay!

ps. i used the credit analyst # listed in one of the backdoor number thread

First time poster seeking advice on recon.I applied for a barclay rewards master card and recieved the 7-10 day message.I called the above number but i get no option to speak to a customer service rep.I tried another number, it asks for my social security number then tells me to check back in a couple of days.Any ideas?Thanks

I recently attempted to get a cli via some recon luv but was denied based on high recent credit inquiries (I'm a rebuilder). I was extremely honest with the representative (she was awesome even though I have read that some at Barclays can be horrible).

I respected her honesty and advice with regards to rebuilding and look forward to my future with Barclaycard (although they will have to lower the APR when I'm in the prime zone if they want me to look at financing larger purchases in the future versus just earning my swipe money).

As a sidenote, I charge the card heavily and pay it off 2-3 times a month. I know auto-luv is in the future
