Unbelievable BBVA Compass story!

I see everyone getting approved for BBVA Amex card, wishing I was not still in the rebuiding stage so I could apply. I still have some late pays showing and an unpaid collection. I read where one poster got approved with a baddie so I decide I would try. My highest limit showing on my current CR is 1000. My CP1 is $1500 but not reporting yet. I've been seeking a higher limit card to purchase some major items my family needs but no one will give me a high limit. I decide to go the the BBVA branch and ask what are my chances with 684 TU and baddies. The officer convinces me to try. We try and I get the 7-10 message. He calls somebody and I get approved for $2000! Because I had already explained what my goals were he suggests I apply for unsecured loan for a new program for credit builders. Ok I'm thinking no way would I get approved. He convinces me again to try. APPROVED for $6000 unsecured. The rate is an awful 14% but it's unsecured. I am astonished. Why they approve $6000 loan but only $2000 credit card is a mystery to me. Thanks myFico posters for pointing me toward BBVA.

UPDATE: I go back to the branch decide what to do about the loan. The officer said he talked with underwriting and got my credit card approved at 0% APR for 6 months. He said it's the Clear Points credit card and the limit is $4800!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!

Hey OP for the credit builder loan how did you apply for that? What was your score and AAoA? Did they approve you instantly? THANKS so much

It's a Signature Express loan and I applied in person while at the branch. It was approved about an hour later. I did have my verifications with me and he copied them. They pulled TU and mine is 684. My account average age is .9 years (less than a year).

Congratulations! To God be the glory indeed! Phenomenal example of someone going over and beyond to service the customer. Something a computer just CAN'T do.

I just received an alert for an Experian pull for the installment loan. So they pulled TU for the credit card application and Experian for the signature loan. My Experian is only 663 and they approved $6000 unsecured loan. I think that is fantastic and a great way to add an installment loan to the mix.
