Citi AAdvantage Approval WHAAAAAAT?!

Was going to apply for the double cash card and decided against it. Went with the AAdvantage Platinum since it's the airline I use most of the time with no plans on even being approved....and after about 30 seconds i get hit with the instant approval for 7,000! That's my second largest ever instant approval (1st was NFCU with 10K) I am beyond stoked right now.

Question for ya, OP.....did you have a recent BK? I have and seem to be able to get lots of cards, but Citi has been an annual no go for me. Not sure how to get there.

Because we usually have limited stats in our sigs or not at all...here's what I have for anyone wanting some data points if they help

Transunion pulled - 7 inquiries at the time of pull < 6 months

Fico score of 691...score provided by Citi was 682 (250-900)

AAoA is 10 months

Accounts opened in the last year 30+ (aggressive build to thicken file)

Highest Credit lines $12,000 NFCU, $12,000 Lowes, $10,000 NFCU (several accounts with $6,000 and $5,000 limits)

Lowest Credit lines $300 Kohls, $500 Target, $500 Discover Secured (about 6 other sub $1000 limit accounts)

Total Credit approx $154,000

Total Credit Utilization 17%

Open Accounts - 48

Accounts with balances - 18

One medical collection 5 years old (unpaid, currently in dispute due to insurance clerical issue, just appeared about a month ago)

One 30 day late 2 years old (closed account)

No BK, judgements, or tax liens

Income $130,000

Decision stated the typical - Collection filed, length of time accounts established, length of time revolving lines established, proportion loan balances to loan amounts too high (2 car loans)
