As we all know Capital one can be very uptight when it comes to increases on our CC's. They must have finally got the point because they've been very friendly on increases as of late. I started off with a $300 limit a year and half ago and after 6 months got a small bump to $500. Then at the 1 year mark I asked for an increase and jumped to $3,500... Now 6 months later I log in to my account to hit the luv button and to my surprise they have hit the luv button for me as my new limit is $6,500! Very happy with Capital one

Anyone else exp this? Just thought I'd share this info

I hit the CLI button for my quicksilver but was denied. They said because they couldnt verify my address. I used chat to see what that meant and they said it's because they are in the proccess on sending me the new chip card and that once it arrives to request the CLI again. I asked the rep what he thought the answer would be. He said he couldn't give an answer but he said he strongly suggests that i ask for it again once the card comes. LOL so i dont know if he was insinuating that i'd be approved or i dont know. I don't know if the chat reps have that kind of information or not.

But, from their site it looks like you can use it towards a variety of things:

Cash Off accessories, Cash off dealership service/parts, cash off new vehicle purchase, Ipad mini, garmin fitness band, portable bluetooth speaker, food, wine, sports stuff etc... They have a ton! for most items looks like you need to have 5k points and up and I only have 4,000 so I may just build up towards using my points on part upgrades for my Challenger

Hopefully that answers your question

That my card is not eligible for customer requested CLI's.. They told me to keep using it.. I told them any usage with such a low Cl would severely impact my credit score. And I didn't care enough about the card to actually use it only to repeatedly spend my time paying it off every few weeks simply to appease them.. I would put some of my monthly membership fees on it like credit monitoring, gym, cell phone insurance ect. - but that did no good.. I finally stopped using it.. I believe they have me on a really bad product even though it is the QS card.. I even went in to a local C1 branch back in 2013 to show them my brokerage acct balance, and my 450k+ retirement acct balances that I have with ANOTHER brokerage firm, and the branch manager flat out said, sorry, the product I have does not permit customer initiated CLI's.. I was floored.. I even told her I was considering consolidating all of my brokerage accounts over to C1. I didn't want to open a new card because then I would lose the aging benefit since they don't backdate. I've never ever been late on anything I have with them, ever.. So, I decided they were not worth my time.. I have plenty of credit available to me from much better banks..

Was it grandfathered from an acquisition or sale of accounts from another bank? I think their cards are strange if they are from another bank. I bet if you got a new card it would be much higher.

I've had my C1 card, I had 2, for 14years.. It was not until after EO contact back in 2014 that I was able to get it bumped from $500.00 (( yes that's right )) to $3k and it's still sitting there with one cli denial after another... They're horrible as far as I'm concerned.. If I wasn't worried about credit aging, I would have canceled my final card.. I've simply stopped using it.. I have no problems with my other cards.. Their loss.. I even moved my 100k+ brokerage account away from them back in 2014 because of their messed up business practices..

Wow that is horrible

What are the reasons behind the denials?

It was the most ridiculous thing ever.. I wish you the very best..

Sounds like at the time when you app'd for that card you were placed in a different bracket or under strict stipulations. Capital one initially was very strict on their CLI's and since then have realized thats what the consumer wants and if they want to compete with the other competitors they need to give the consumer what they want or atleast meet them half way. I can almost guarantee with those scores in your sig if you were to reapply for another Capital one card you would be approved for 10k or higher instantly. But, I do understand your frustration and not wanting to continue business with them as that would have me very frustrated.

Yeah, I think you're right.. I'm in some old, worn out, tired bracket.... I got the card from them 14yo; in fact, I had two from the same period and the other card had the same limit. It was not through a bank merger.. I'm only holding on to it for aging against open accounts. I did close my other becaue of their games. If I ever get hard up for another card that I can't get anywhere else, then maybe I would apply for a new one.

If you look around the forums here, you'll see many other people in the same boat.. It seems they loved to give out 300.00 and 500.00 CLs in the past simply to get the customer numbers, while not taking on too much risk.. Alot of these people report the same thing.. It's the strangest thing I've seen from a cc company.

Once they build that trust with you then they will increase your limit which is understandable. They may not be AS giving as other companies but they are starting to change and you just can't beat that 1.5% back on everyday purchases. It's really my goto card and that cash back adds up quick when you're spending 3-4k a month

When I got approved for my $1K Cap1 I was sent an email that said if I paid 6 months on time, they'd increase my limit by $500.00 automatically. After 4 months they bumped me up to $4K. 4 months later, I did an online CLI for $2K- making that a $6K card. I have no complaints.
