Cap-1 Credit Limit Increase help!

I recently applied for a credit limit increase on my $300 limi Cap-1 card and the only reason they gave me for denial was this:

Unsecured credit line increases are not available upon request on Secured Card accounts

How should I go about this? Thanks in advance!

Based on the reason, it looks like it's a secured card.. In that case, wouldn't you have to continue to send in additional funds to see an increase in Cl? Other than that, I held an UNsecured card from them from 2000 to 2013 and never once got a CLI until I contacted their executive offices.. IMO, they are a horrible credit card company for those who've been with them for long periods STUCK on their old products... Best of luck to you..

Just keep trying each month... I use to get this message on my Sony card and was even told that you couldn't request CLI on that card but then 1 day it gave me a cli when I requested!

keep working on your credit and as you rebuild or build it you can just replace with higher tier cap1 cards and other cards by other issuers that are little easier to grow with.

How long have you had this card?

Ya I have a QS One card and they gave me a $100 increase a couple days ago so its at a $400 limit now :[

Ive have nothing but low limit cards. The only one I want to keep is the QS One because it gives cashback. I'd like to replace all the others with cards that will grow with me.

do you know your credit scores currently?

have you checked pre-qual for cap1 for a new venture card?

what other cards outside cap1 do you have?

My scores currently are

EQ: 638 TU:649 EX:630

I checked the pre-qual for cap1 a couple days ago, they didnt have any offers for me.

My other cards are a Wells Fargo Secured at a $300 limit that ive had for over 2 years now. And a Khols card at a $300 limit that I've had for over a year

id probably apply for a discover card. they seem to love the mid tier credit person with not much out there.

I did do Discover's pre-qual and got pre-qualified for their Discover IT rewards card for students, but im not a student. Lol.

the pre-qual for discover doesn't work anyway... just cold apply for discover it.

With your scores you should be able to get a unsecured card some where, I would stay away from adding any more "secured" cards.

What about joining a CU in your area or online and trying for a CC that way?

Once you get a CC with a better SL you should be able to drop all secured cards.

I know most people hate Credit One on here but that's at least one unsecured card that could help get your ball rolling. It worked for me.

you get credit one instead of secured if you go that route... don't add cards with the same terrible limits as your secured cards plus high fees!! NO CREDIT ONE!

At what point do I drop all these other useless secured cards once I get approved for a better unsecured card?

Cap 1 is not going to increase your limit on a secured card because you requested one. They will grant it to you one day out of the blue.

With your scores, getting a Barclays Card should definitely be an option, especially with TU being your highest score.

Apply for Discover it and Barclay Rewards or Sallie Mae

Post results.

then yes, each unsecured card you got I would close a secured card starting with Capital One!

Update:

So for Barclays i got the 7-10 business days message.

For Discover I got approved for the Discover It card!
