OMG NFCU!!!!!

Okay so I got thinking that my uncle retired as a Rear Admiral in the US Navy and dad was in the Army Corp of Engineers before he went to law school and worked at the Dept of Justice...so maybe I am eligible after all.

So I called them and they did the application for Membership over the phone with me....10 minutes and poof I am a member!!!

Then she started giving me the tour of the web site and their services, products and everything.

OMG! That place is AWESOME!!

I did not apply for any cards. I am just thrilled to be in right now!!!

I will review their cards and such soon, but for now, I AM IN!!!!

Congrats and welcome! Treat them right and they will surely treat you the same. I just got my auto-upgraded Visa Siggy in the mail and went from a 6k limit to a 15k limit. You are going to enjoy this.

I know right!! Right on one of their screens it tells me I am preselected for one of their Visa cards and a car loan! lol

I promised myself I would not app for anything until my credit reports are as good as I can make them. I have just two cards left on TU and one on EQ. They both have already reported to EX. Its going to be any day now.

How much time should I let pass from membership to apping for a card though? I have no idea on the standard here or if there is one.

i dont think you get the whole NFCU thing, They dont care have a somwhat decent report and cashflow and you will get nice limits

Navy Fed ROCKS!!! I call them on Christmas & wish them a Merry Christmas just because I know someone is there...working on the holiday.

They are so nice & will answer any question you have at any time...24/7/365.

My nRewards....with a lower score than you have...$25k! BAM....Instant LOVE!

Edit: I apped for the card the day I joined. But if you have a couple things falloing off very soon...wait. Even with some balances on other cards & a baddie...9% int.

I know next to nothing about NFCU except that I was really jealous of folks after all the awesome things I was hearing about NFCU. I wanted in bad but did not think I would qualify to be a member. Since I did not think I could get in, I sorta skipped over a lot of information I might have read thoroughly otherwise.

As far as apping, yea, I have come this far and in another day or two, my final card(s) statement balances will hit my reports going from their individual 70% util down to fully paid off. Also tomorrow my Discover closes at 0 balance (down from 39 dollars last month lol).

I refuse to app for anything until I am putting my best foot forward credit file wise.

What card in the NFCU lineup do you folks think is right for me?

Stats:

Income 85K

Scores: TU FICO 709 (About to go up to prolly 720), EX 721 (FAKO of course), EQ 727 (Also probably go up a few points in a day or two)

No bads, No derogs, no lates

My cards are in my sig, but I have a 1500 Cap One Cash Rewards, 500 Credit One (in the SD), AU On Amex Green for 2+ years, AU On Discover More 2K for 2+ years.

MY AAoA is only a year on both EQ and TU but is 2 yr 6 mon on EX. (In apping considerations I am assuming 1 year AAoA)

I am a pilot and travel around a lot but not on airlines so much. I like reward points which are usable for things other than airline miles..and of course Cash back is great.

My current plan BEFORE this NFCU Development was:

1. AMEX PRG

2. BCE If PRG is an Instant approval.

3. Chase Freedom (Bank there)

4. Discover IT

5 Garden 6 months to a year

6. A min of 6 months in garden then maybe CSP

7. Garden another 6 months to a year
8. Penfed.

Well...this changes things a bit I think. I certainly don't really need Penfed for starters, right now or in a couple years.

So how would you wise folks change this app order around if you were in my shoes?

I just became a member a couple weeks ago and I'm super excited as well. I'll be applying for a CC as soon as my util is paid down to <9% which should be in the next week!

Keep us updated on what nice new shiny card you get from NFCU.
