Approved for $1000 for Well's Fargo Platinum Visa

A little disappointed at the low CL. Already have personal line of credit with WF for $5000. Also have a checking/savings account for at least 7 years. Will recon when I receive the card. Have a few inquiries the past several days. Applied for CLI for Chase Slate and applied for Citi Simplicity - was told I have too many new accounts. Current utilization is at 16.53% (I built a credit utilization and balance tool in Excel, so I keep up with it almost daily). FICO TU: 713, EX: 698, EQ: 661. One medical collections from 2011. I'm trying to increase my utilization buffer as I will be taking several programming classes in the next month, and will be buying a couch - so want to make sure my credit score doesn't get dinged too bad. I already got approved for a Macy's "Special Events" line of credit earlier today for $5000. Does anyone know what the reconsideration number is for WF?

Wells isn't likely to recon. They are not an aggressive credit card lender and are very conservative. I just dealt with them and I have been a customer for some years. No success.

They will never be a high limit card issuer.

I was shocked to get a preapproved offer for a visa from them, especially, given my BK history. They gave me a $4k limit.

I was a little hesitant because they denied me about six or seven months ago. Glad they approved me (especially after getting my CLI denied from Chase and getting my app denied for the Citi Simplicity).

I opened a 2K secured card with Wells Fargo, and opened a CHE / SAV in Feb. Took out a 3K secured personal loan last month. I just append for their Propel Amex figuring I'd be declined, rather than try and graduate my 4 month old secured card. They surprised me with instant approval 2500 CL. I was hoping for 5K, but I'll take it.

i agree they aren't aggressive in the card market (heck, they're hardly competitive) but i wouldn't necessarily call them conservative. i had a 3 year old $500 credit card maxed out (i think), a year and a half old $2,200 store card (probably owed aroun $1,500 on it) and my year and half old $1,500 freedom (probably maxed or close) and WF gave me a $3,000 limit.

Even though WF isn't the number one credit card lender, I'd still call and ask for a more useful limit. They've been helpful for me.

WF gave me my first 5k limit card almost two years ago when most of my cards were still in the 1k-2k range. I've also gotten annual auto CLIs from them (twice for about 1500 each). However, I've done a majority of my banking with them since 2003 too so that may be why they were more generous than others with the the limit they approved me for.

Congratulations! Wells Fargo is BIG on having a banking relationship so that's probably why you got a good limit. I tried 3 times in 2 years to get the propel card from them with no success, I finally broke down and opened a WF checking account and then 2 months later got two cards from them.
