Second AmEx 3x CLI

I last received a CLI on my AmEx BCE in mid-December 2014. It was a 3x CLI from $2,500 to $7,500 that was surprisingly (to me) approved without issue.

Well, today was day 181 so I figured what the hell, let's see what happens if I try again. I lowballed myself by asking for an increase to $20,000 instead of $22,500, but I was fairly certain it was going to give me a counter-offer of somewhere in the teens (which I would certainly have accepted) or just give me a message saying my application needed further review. Instead, I was instantly approved for the $20,000 I asked for - so yeah, I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn't ask for the full amount now. Ha!

I'd add that I have a perfect payment history with all of the cards linked in my sig, although my AAoA is only ~10 months due to my being a recent immigrant.

I've got some great advice here and really appreciate all of it. It's difficult to believe that I had to jump through hoops to obtain a secured card with a $500 CL just 18 months ago...

I PIF. At the time I went for the CLI last night I still had a ~$200 balance from last month's statement (which recently cut) that had not yet been paid.

Nice to know! I always PIF with Amex also. Got stuck last month with 29.00 reporting. My timing was off!

Can you check if you pre qualify? I also have a very thin file, just cirious as where i will stand in a few months) do you have many accounts/ enqs?
