Macy's AmEx Upgrade and Club Account: APPROVED

Last Friday I requested via chat that my Macy's account be upgraded to an American Express. The chat rep. informed me that this could only be done via phone or chat and asked if I wanted to continue. I've only had my Macy's account for a little over a week, in fact, I only received the physical store card today!

Upon submitting my request, the chat. rep informed me that it would take up to 30 days to review the request. Because my account so was so new, I wasn't really expecting anything to happen.

Today, I logged into my Macy's account and noticed the thumbnail for my card looked different. It had the AmEx logo!!! I knew this was a good sign so I called the credit department and spoke with a somewhat salty gentleman who told me the request was processed & approved and that my starting limit is $3000 on my American Epxress. Not too shabby. I continued to ask about the Club Account, and like the other reps I've talked to they seem really unsure or hesitant about opening these things up via chat or phone. He wanted to know how much my jewelry purchase would be. I said I didn't know and that I was looking at a watch between $500-$2500, but it would be easier for me to decide if I knew what the credit limit would be for. He immediately opened the club account for $2500!

I didn't want to annoy him any further by asking questions about the upcoming merge. What happens, happens I guess! C'est la vie!

In Summary: Macy's Upgrade to American Express: APPROVED ----> $3000 SL and Club Accont: APPROVED ----> $2500 SL

These are the account I now have with Macy's:

Store Card $1000

Furniture Account $5800

Club Account $2500

American Express $3000

Nice! Did they mention if it'd be a hard pull or not to upgrade? Most of the time they say it will be and from what I read on the forums it usually never is.

Thanks! Good question! The chat. rep did inform me that a credit report would be used to complete my request; however, I have checked all my reports for recent inquiries from Macy's, and there are none: SP!
