A week ago I left the garden after 2 months and got a Lowes card as my DW and I have some things we would like to purchase for the house, and it's only a couple of miles away. I figured since I left the garden anyway with HP, I might as well make the most of it. I had 2 other cards on my radar for the end of the year when I left the garden - Citi Double Cash and the Sallie Mae MC. After having such success with the Lowe's card and $10k CL, I figured now's a great time to get the Citi - well, much to my amazement I was immediately turned down from them. Two recons later I finally had to give up. Plus from another thread of mine, I now have absolutely no desire to give them any of my business. I didn't want to face rejection again so I decided I don't want to get turned down for Sallie Mae and face disappointment again. The past 3 days I've been researching and trying to decide if I want to app for Sallie Mae and just get it off my mind and either get rejected or approved. I was in a mood when I got home tonight and decided, why not, it's only been a week since Citi double HP me and what's one more HP - immediately got approved for $2,500! Not quite the CL that I wanted, so I called and spoke to a nice rep who answered on the first ring. She reviewed my app and told me there was no new HP needed since they just ran the HP today. She was concerned about the new apps this year and said they wanted to see more before they would CLI. I understand what she meant, so I asked if I could move $2k from my Barclay Rewards card so it is now $5k and the Sallie Mae will be $4,500, so it balances them both out.

So, I really, truly am back to the garden for the long haul. There's absolutely no new cards I need or want. Now I will sit back and watch my FICO scores grow for the next year. I want to see all the INQs age to a year old before any new apps. which means next July. Maybe a card or two will go on the watch list in the meantime but I'm determined I am over any new apps.....no really!

Thanks! I forgot to mention it has 0% APR for several months, and then it will be 13.9% - which is really good. What I don't quite understand is why my Barclay Rewards card is going to be 24.9% after the 0% APR period ends. Same bank, two totally different APR.

For the SM lovers, do you think I should move more CL from the Barclay Rewards and give it to SM and use it most of the time between the two cards?

I know how you feel about Citi. I would up closing both of my cards with them due to the low limits and their refusal to CLI. I have no idea what they think makes them so special. I could understand strict underwriting for outstanding cards but the Citi offerings are lackluster at best. Ultimately I am happier with FIA for flat 2% back and Citi can shove it as far as I'm concerned.

Oh yeah and Congrats!

When they were paid off I went on app sprees and since January 2015, I acquired 14 cards. The AMEX I had was closed after it was paid off, and now have the AMEX BCE. So, I have a pretty decent line up now (see the cards below and the CL). So, first new card in 15 years in 2015 was DiscoverIT, most recent was Sallie Mae yesterday. This also cost me a lot of INQs. I'm done now for at least a year with apps and will probably start pruning out other cards as time goes on.
