I'd wait a bit for a few reasons. You just got 9k on your amex and I think it will help if you have a couple of months with that limit showing in your payment history before you apply. Your score will come up with time and I think its a bit low for the CSP at the moment. I'd wait until you have both of the following: at least one year of credit history showing on one of your credit cards and about 4 to 6 months of payment history showing with your 9k limit. Because of the chase policy about having too many new accounts in the past two years you will likely want to make the CSP your next app and it will go nicely with your freedom. I'd also wait for a higher signup offer to come out. With most offers you don't have to pay the AF during the first year, so you can try it for a year and then cancel or downgrade if it doesn't fit your needs long term. You will be able to get it eventually if you maintain your credit. I think it will just take a little more time to get there is all.

Also, I know you said you travel a lot, but did you run the numbers? Can you justify a $95 AF with your travel? Remember, CSP, outside of the bonus, can be hard to justify for some as it only earns double points on travel and dining expenses. Any other spend is just 1x. Not to say that some people don't benefit from it, but my point is make sure you run the numbers.

In my opinion, approval will probably be a long shot/decline at this point. For CSP, Chase anecdotally wants to see some high limit cards being managed well for awhile as CSP minimum limit is 5k. You only have one card above that, and the other two are far below that.

Point is I'd let your cards age for another 6 months to a year before even trying and wasting the HP. You can also use the time to determine if CSP really makes sense (just because you travel some doesn't automatically mean it is justifiable).

Thanks for everybody's reply, it's helped me a lot! Although I am a student, my income is 55k, and I make about 1-2 airplane trips a month, that's why csp caught my interest, but I guess I must to some more researching.

I opened the chase freedom back in April.

Also, you said that I can check my scores as long as it's not a HP, how do I do this? I have been using creditkarma, I know it's a fako score, but I was using it to track my spending and my utilization ( even though I pay it in full)

Also, I tend to make regular 'big' purchases, so I felt that it would be an advantage to get the card and use it and get the bonus points on top of that.

I guess it was wrong to believe that delta partners with csp's points, haha

Thanks for the help, so it's better if I wait, yes ?

(Sorry if I soud so noob LOL so new to cc's and still so much to learn...)

For Asiana I believe you can use united miles, but from what I recall you can also take Amex MRs from the PRG or Plat/everyday and transfer to aeroplan then redeem for an asiana reward. The 3x on airfare for the PRG is pretty nice. Since you likely spend a decent amount on airfrae the PRG may be worth a look now. Given your delta line and the fact its a charge card you probably have a good chance at it. Then I would garden and make the CSP the following app when everything lines up.

The 500 limit you got on the Freedom is a pretty good indicator of where you are starting from with Chase. That's normally supposed to be the minimum limit available on the Freedom, although in rare cases some have gotten approved at $400 on recon.

In addition, Chase will often do a modest-sized auto-CLI somewhere around the 90-day mark, so I look on the lack of one on your Freedom as another indicator that they are waiting to see more history from you.

It should not require anything more than a little patience, though. My first Chase card was one of the aforementioned $400-at-recon Freedoms, and a little over a year later I had an $1100 CLI on the Freedom and was able to get a CSP at $12200.

Just wait it out a while longer until your EX score recovers, and take solace in knowing that as soon as you have that CSP your Freedom points will suddenly become a lot more valuable!

Oooops.... I saw this now... haha

I actually got frustrated and applied for the csp, but instead of gettting a 7-10 day wait, I got a 30 day pending. I called the automated service number, and got the same message again, 30 day wait. I called the backdoor numbers provided in this forum about 8 times within the past two days, and they have said the same thing. Please wait 30 days, but the last time I talked to a credit analyst, she said that I would get a notice in two weeks, and that it was still pending. I guess my obsession over credit cards and scores took over the best of me lol. I just wish they would give me a response already so I could call the recon line... haha

When I got approved for my CSP my biggest CL on my CR was 1.7K, so chase will approve a 5K CSP without large limits on your CR.

YESSSSSS...

My limit is 5k. I will probably not apply for credit cards for a couple years, since I got the card I wanted most... now time to keep track of my cards...
