Citi Advantage Platinum Select Approval

I recently made a switch from Delta to American as my primary airline for work travel, so I figured I should get the credit card to maximize the rewards... I was kinda surprised about the limit and the apr - neither are very reflective of my credit reports or other limits. Hopefully it will grow quickly.

In somewhat related news, there didnt seem to be much of a difference between the platinum select and the executive other than the $350 annual fee difference. If anyone thinks the Executive is the better deal, please let me know!

Citi pulled exp for this app, exp score as of today is 804. 12 Inq total over 24 months.

Congrats, OP. Citi can be a strange one sometimes.

I got a high APR on my card too. Was able to get it down to 13.24% via online chat. I bet you can do the same.

Thanks! And agreed! I was scratching my head on those items as well. Either Citi didnt like that my home refi just posted last week, or I suppose its possible I could be at the internal max with Citi - I do have a very large prestige limit. I guess Ill find out when I go to try a CLI.

Congrats on the card but you're right. Surprisingly low limit and high APR. You could always take another HP after activation and get a sizable CLI.

I have the AAdvantage Executive card. What you're paying for with the annual fee is membership in the Admiral's Club, which gets you and two gets access to the club lounge. It's nice to have if you travel a lot. We travel a fair bit internationally, so it's nice to have a quiet place to sit and relax prior to a flight. That's the sole reason I keep the card open with its high annual fee. For me, it's completely worth the cost.

Congratulations on the card. What is your Prestige limit? How long with that card, and any other Citi cards?

Congratulations Lyythine! I'd echo Irish and lhcole's suggestions. If you're not at maximum lending threshold with Citi then there should be plenty of wiggle room for a CLI upon receipt of your card (albeit with a HP)

The APR can certainly be lowered. I was able to lower the APR on my Prestige to 10.99% upon having the card for about a month.

Congratulations on the card. What is your Prestige limit? How long with that card, and any other Citi cards?

My prestige limit is 47.5k, Ive had the card for 4-5 years I believe and the prestige was the only citi card I had at the time.

Thanks, Fin! I wouldnt think Im at the max, but who knows... Ill try for a CLI upon activation and let you know how bad they scold me
