I just tried the Capital One pre quality tool I always get the message that I qualify for the Secured card. 80 days ago I went ahead and submitted the form for the secured and was approved with a $200 deposit. I decided not to go for it and just wait it out until I can get prequalified for an unsecured card. Well today I tried the prqualified tool again and it said I was prequalified for the Capital Platinum. I decided to go for it, but got the following message:

We attempt to provide an application decision in 60 seconds or less. On occasion, system availability affects our ability to make a credit decision or, in some cases, we need to collect additional information. Unfortunately, we need more time to look into this for you.

We attempt to provide an application decision in 60 seconds or less. On occasion, system availability affects our ability to make a credit decision or, in some cases, we need to collect additional information. Unfortunately, we need more time to look into this for you.

Darn, I was hoping for an instant approval. Now the waiting game!

**************************

Update: Just received an email from Capital One! I was approved!!!!! Very low limit, but I will gracefully take it! Just 80 days ago they were offering me a secured card with $200 deposit, and now approved for a $300 SL Unsecured Card. I am very happy that I was patient and didn't go for the secured card. I am extremely happy to be in the Capital One family. Now I will garden......again....

I had capital one before. I hade been late 4 months before I paid in full and then they closed the accounts as soon as I had made payments. Tried to get them opened and they wouldn't budge. This was 2 to 3 years ago. I am hoping to get in the door again. About 3 months ago I had applied for the secured card and was approved with $200 deposit but decided not to proceed since they never graduate. I opted to just wait until I can get approved for their unsecured card and here I am bitting my nails.

Cap1 secured was the 1st card I started with, I give them kudo's for giving me a card, but now after 2 years of my money being 'frozen', now finding out it will take over 2 months to get my deposit back after cancelling, and having ONLY a 300. apx. credit line over said deposit that entire time, not allowing ANY upgrade/ c.l. increase/ nothing/nada...I realize this card was a suckers bet. Yes, they did give me a card (that is almost just a pre-paid card), but holding it for 2 years and putting up a big deposit, was in the end, a big mistake. Since that beginning, I've gotten 4 other unsecured cards, and my credit has risen to a respectable level. Hope someone/anyone learns something from my own personal experiance with Capital 1.

Still waiting. I just called and application is still being reviewed. I'm being hopeful because all my other situation have always been a quick denial. I'm seeing this as no news means good news. Lol. I just received an alert that they pulled EXP, my highest score. Although I know they normally pull all 3. Either way I will report if I get it or not. I've tried to find answers to others who have received this same message and all of them didn't update their post with their final outcome. Uggghh that's one of my pet peeves when people start a post but don't update with the final outcome. I'll make sure to update, good or bad.

You close the card right from the site, they applied my deposit 2 days later making my balance 0. I timed it wrong cause my statement cut and I got my interest charges but just paid that and done. They reported card closed by consumer and I prequaled for another QS1 and opened that.

If your deposit is BIG I would do a BT of the amount of your deposit from another card to your cap one card then close it once it posts. They will apply your deposit to your balance.

High 500's, very low 600's. Now I am around 700 on EQ/TU, and 779 on EXP. after 2 years keeping c.u. at 15%. Choose your cards offered or otherwise CAREFULLY. Don't get so many you can't keep track of them. I have my primary bank's Reward card, Bank of Americard for the 2% groc's/3% gas (terrible cust. service/ administration services/ low beginning c.l.), Walmart for the convenience (again, low beginning c.l.), and Barclays Reward because they give you 2% for utility bills charged with card. It's been a slow, slow climb uphill, even starting without bad credit (just no credit). I waited for 2 years to finally DUMP my Cap1, for good or bad. But I want my deposit back (1,480. and yeah, rookie mistake putting down that much, it didn't benefit me for doing that much), and this is the ONLY way. Real pisser!

oh yeah, in ending, I got c.l. raises equalling the total c.l. of Cap1 (that included my deposit), from a couple of my unsecured cards. That way the 'hit' to my credit scores won't be too bad other than the h.p's for asking for the c.l.i's. Atleast that's my own common sense. I didn't research just what to do or how it will affect me credit wise. GL to you, and thanks for the replies.

Still no updates. I've been calling on a daily basis. Today I asked if there is any paperwork needed from me because I wanted to make sure I wasn't holding up the approval process. They confirmed that at the moment there is nothing needed from my end. They also reiterated that it can take up to 15 business days for them to make a decision.

This is Credit One deja vu. What a paintful long process. geez. Hoping that I can report good news soon and that it turns out to be positive. At this point I can't imagine such a long process just for a denial. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Today, received a letter a few days since asking BOA for a credit increase...hey needed some more info, call this phone #...I did, and basically they wanted my phone # updated from TU, to call them and get it updated, then call them back. Just for a note: Calling TU and speaking to a human representative, can be a real hassle- took several calls and numbers to finally get the guy who seems to be the only one that mans the phones after say, 5PM (I recognize his voice for a couple years now, India or SE Asian dialect) After many security questions and trying to confuse me (which he did), gave me another # for the "Special Handling Dept". I'm deep in the mud now. Like a snowball rolling downhill. Anyway, keep playing the game, playing the game, eventually I'll wear them down and get what I want. I know this isn't abt Cap1, but same slime types 'The Ghostbuster's' had to deal with ;-)
