Finally! Sapphire Preferred Approval.

Long time reader of the forums. I'm so grateful for all the tips i've gotten. I've been building up my credit slowly over the past year and I finally got approved for the Sapphire Preferred. Got a great 50,000 bonus points deal and I'm looking forward to traveling with the card next year!

Thanks to all. Yea It's taken some work but I'm getting there. My next goal is an AMEX.

Actually I did not. The Slate, Amazon, Express, Victoria Secret, Apple CC, Discover IT, Care Credit (still fixing my sig to show all of these) were all within the last 24 months since I've been rebuilding.

I've read on here that Chase is a relationship bank. I do have a Checking, Savings with them. Also when I got the Slate it was for a balance transfer which I paid off last month in under a year. So that may have helped.

wonder if they are relaxing their 24x5 rule for the holidays or for good? only time will tell

I did try for the Freedom right after the approval for the Sapphire and that one was declined. I called to Recon and they told me it was because I had to many apps and cards with them. I plan on trying for the Freedom again within the next 6 months so we'll see.

Exactly my experience as well! Actually, I got instant approval for my Chase Sapphire Preferred, then waited a couple of days and applied for the Freedom card. Received a 30-day Email and now the automated application status line says 7-10 days...not a good sign.

I only have two Chase cards: United Explorer and now Sapphire Preferred, but both of those cards have one authorized user each (my wife). Does Chase count AU's in calculating the 5/24 rule? If so, I have four cards already and Freedom plus AU would take me over the limit...I applied for an AU on the Freedom card in my original application.

CreditCuriosity, would you recommend that I call the recon number and tell them I don't need an AU on the Freedom card? Or just exercise patience and wait? Thanks!
