Cap1 Approval - Credit Steps question

Hi, I was recently approved for a Platinum and QS1, both with $3k CLs. (I know they're not rockstar cards, but I'm pretty happy to be approved for anything at all considering my decimated credit report after 5 years of Ch 13 BK)

I was just wondering how you know if you're enrolled in Credit Steps? Is it an automatic thing for these two cards? I haven't gotten any emails or anything about it.

Congrats on the approvals, and you should see a CLI (credit steps, ...if you got the document saying you were in credit steps)...on statements 6-8. Be patient for them

I doubt you're in credit steps with those SLs. Check your statement for credit steps. If you're in credit steps you'll see a big increase in 7 months, if not just hit the love button after your 7th statement.

You can go on chat and ask them if you are in credit steps. With SL's like that, I doubt you are.

I agree, I doubt your are in Credit Steps with those initial limits; however, I've gotten an email stating I was in about a month after having the card. It wasn't mentioned in the documents that came with my card(s).

Thanks everyone!

I got "welcome to capital one" email earlier today and it said something about a CLI after 5 on time payments, but nothing about Credit Steps specifically. I guess I'll find out when I get my cards (can't wait!!) can't seem to get on chat yet, sad.

My SL with my Quicksilver was $3k just like you and after six months they bumped me up to $7k!

You won't always get an email, but the email to look for will say something to the effect of how you'll have "access to a higher limit" after X amount of time if you do X (usually make X amount of ontime payments but I've seen reports of them saying to make an $X payment X months in a row).

Essentially all a credit steps increase is is a guaranteed increase after X period of time. If you DON'T get one, then you can always ask for one - Cap One's luv button is a soft pull anyway. You can start requesting them after your 3rd statement and if you are in Credit Steps you can still get an increase early and it won't affect your Credit Steps increase anyway. Heh.

My credit steps happened the night the 6th statement cut... I requested a cli 4 days after the 2nd statement cut and went from 300 to 800. Then the credit steps took me from 800 to 1300 the night the 6th statement cut.

I got the credit step email that my Cap One would be increased from $400 to $800. Is it possible that it will be more?

I spoke to Cap 1 EO recently and happened to ask why I was in credit steps. It wasn't the purpose of my call but since I had her on the phone I figured I would ask all of the questions I had. Her reply was everybody is automatically in credit steps, she didn't elaborate she just said that everybody is in credit steps and that the accounts are reviewed at the fifth month for an automatic CLI

I see people with more than one Cap One CC. Did you manually apply for both or did they offer the other one after a period of time? I've had my Cap One for about 6 months. After the 2nd month my wife hit the button and it went from $300 to $500. It was maxed a couple months, but always paid, and it's paid up now, balance $8. Won't be using it anytime soon as I'm hoping to see some changes in the CL. Just wondering how people are getting duplicate/double accounts with them?

Congrats on the approval! I have Platinum and QS as well, I got my credit steps CLI after my 6th payment to a $500 increase, however I did get an increase after my 4th month.
